Would agree. At some point I find a little tiresome to read those “maybe they should have fought back the talibans” comments all over the internet by some.

Probably the British at Dunkirk should have fought back the Wehrmacht instead of navigating on the channel back to Blightly, uh?

We’re all in despair witnessing from our western homes what’s happening there. I’d rather take a few thousands Afghans who have actually worked and helped US and NATO than leave them to their fate.

But… wait until some odd one stabs someone in Brussels, Paris or Manchester and then they will be again tarred with the same brush.
Dunkirk was a great victory!! Really if we hadn't got all those men back, with some combat experience, and frankly having been given a kicking by the germans, would we have been successful on D-Day?

Afghanistan isnt over, we could see a 'bay-of Pigs' operation in 2 years time, led by the rescued Afghan SF - maybe they will get fed up of kebabs, beer and girls with no clothes on.....

Then the evacuation will be seen as a great victory, and we will built statues of uncle Joe!

Don't forget the great educational experiences of Singapore and Dieppe! ?

Amazing to watch these young infantrymen pressed into the role of MPs, Customs Officers, first responders, etc., and doing their best, even with the incompetence of their President, SecDef, and CJCS. These are the "deplorables" these are the salt of the earth, these are the ones who make America great.

That’s a nice analogy and I mean it. Although very tongue in cheek.

Unfortunately Afghanistan has been at war since about forever, it predates the Soviets and Brits.

Personally, I believe that war refugees are ultimately bound to go back to their country at some point. Pretty sure some Syrians did from Germany already. It’s a case by case problem, country by country. Individual by individual and therefore a quite complicated issue.

Another problem is that these countries at war and their population have a long memory. Any “traitor” coming back would be again in danger even many years later.

I’m hardly someone to cheer on welcoming half the third world in the West. Politicians from here and there do have some obligations too.

LOL a lot of wishful thinking here. Think more of the Vietnamese, you really think these Afghan refugees will give up their life in the west for Afghanistan? Why do you think most worked with you? Its exactly for this chance.

“LOL” at my post all you want, JungleJimbo. I’m sure you from your Filipino house has the key solutions to world problems when you’re not busy flying over the world in an airbus. :D

I’m just presenting some facts. I know refugees are mostly here to stay, considering some have worked for the west and I as said, it’s quite risky to go back there at some point.

Of course they wouldnt give up say UK citizenship. But if(Big IF) the situation improved, many refugees have a need to go back and do something, to help their remaining family, and or the country, even if its just to invest, or open a travel route back and forth.

Even filipinos go home now and again.

Reference the Afghan Commandos taking their Country back in 2 years. I haven't visited them as they settle in back home in our newly refurbished family housing on base but the reports from my wife that's helping settle them in is that them touch everything as they walk around the rooms with their families like it's gold plated. Every house & apartment has a few old family heirlooms donated by Danes so they can make new memories. & they don't understand why there are plants in pots growing inside. Stocking groceries has been a whole new experience for her. The Commandos have been granted citizenship & a job with rank/pay in the Danish military. I don't see them ever going back to live which is kinda sad. I don't think I could do it.

Today's pandemonium on the Afghan-Pakistani border.

It is simply the repercussions of your nations actions in meddling with other nations affairs. How many refugees did France take in that actually went back to take back their own countries? Algerians? but those werent really refugees. The more your nations feel like they have to intervene the darker the pigment of your nations become. Which is actually fine, it's just that there are still some Euros who have Nicememes sentiments.

I might be brash, but a lot of the posts here is very "western" and "idealistic" I was simply showing you a different POV. My country being some parts first world and some parts shithole, I kinda can see the mindset of some people from the shithole areas.

Many people have a "need to go back" thats some Hollywood propaganda B.S. there. As for the Filipino example, they arent exactly jumping on the sides of C17 to get out of the country. Most of them that comeback, realize they are better off retiring back here with their pensions from there, not because of "Patria y Vida" sentiments b.s.

The US just cant quit and leave that place alone can't day. Conflicts are like crack to America, get help.
You are literally drowning in debt to fund your habit and it is tearing your house apart.

Tajikistan is part of the bigger game, it is Russia's backyard and member of military alliance formed by the Collective Security Treaty Organization, and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Tajikistan hosts Russian military units and infrastructure in Central Asia. US aims to gain bigger foothold there and do same as it did on Russia's western borders like in Moldova and Ukraine and unsuccessfully in Belarus. China is not far from there too and by look of it is getting involved in Afghanistan.

Maybe I'm too close to folks being stranded or Nationals wanting to escape from the taliban but just reading between the lines this may be the overland route the Americans are looking for. Pretty sure the new border hut & fencing will cost billions.

***Warning Graphic***I think the American rifles given to the ANA & captured by the taliban have started turning on their new owners. You know what's about to happen.
