Good stuff tizer , never had you down as a secret sniffer.......

i've been building Model kits for over 35 years, never hid my love/joy of building model kits, believe it or not i get more enjoyment out of building them than airbrushing them

i've got 5 different airbrushes lol a Aztek, Harder & Steenback infinity, Tamiya trigger type, a badger 250 & another trigger type that came with my air compressor

I've just recently gone back to modelling after a hiatus of 40+ years, gotta agree with the enjoyment of building.

Just slowly making my way around the in/outs of painting and weathering, at the moment it's all brushwork as I save up for an airbush :)

I used to build the kits that went in the display cabinets at the now defunct Beatties

Still have loads of unopened/unmade kits and about 80,000 unpainted 15mm wargames figures - there are about 12 ammo crates in the loft full

Last time we moved house the only things I moved myself were all the painted wargames figures, the cat and my minimoog

All kind of disappeared those types of shops blackcat . Think there's one at meadowhall near me but that's about it . I guess there is always the internetz to order what you need but still , they were nice shops to browse .

There used to be a couple in Sheffield center before they built Meadowhell - I don't live that far from Sheffield but tended to go to Nottingham

The saddest thing was when they build Meadowhell - we used to build lots of flight cases for speakers and equipment and there was a big factory/steel works building where we used to get screw nails by the barrel - turned up one day and it had all been knocked down - including the little rose wood office with the most beautiful acid etched Victorian windows - sad

Levelled the lot . When I visited Sheffield via public transport you used to drive through all the steel mills , with the odd pub in-between for steel workers to grab a quick few on breaks ( them were the days ! ) . Just full of shops now selling effectively landfill and empty offices for let .

And all those jobs gone - the wargames society used to meet in Cutlers Hall in the town center - not sure if that is still there
It then moved to the Crucible but lost track of it after then - one of my mates used to be armorer for the norse and viking society - he turned up on a big honda bike with a horned helmet, shield on his back and a couple of swords and an axe - he was an ex para;)

Not been to Sheffield city centre for a few years , last time was to go to sheffield children's ( nothing bad ) on tram . Great city centre but meadowhall somewhat gutted it . I know Sheffield tried to get HS2 station but meadowhall won , another loss . Funny how the shops always win .

basically i have enough kits to build that would take 2 or 3 lifetimes to build

aye it's a shame with the number of local hobby stores closing these days kids would rather play with their play stations than build a model kit or socialise with other kids/teens
