USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CVA-42) as an approaching aircraft would see it while underway in the Mediterranean Sea. The exact date is unknown. It was taken between 2 January 1970 through 16 July 1975 when Attack Carrier Air Wing 6 (CVW-6) was embarked. The photo seems to be from the early 1970s, when the following squadrons were assigend to CVW-6: VF-41 "Black Aces" (McDonnell Douglas F-4J Phantom II), VF-84 "Jolly Rogers" (F-4J), VA-15 "Valions" (LTV A-7B Corsair II), VA-87 "Golden Warriors" (A-7B), VA-176 "Thunderbolts" (Grumman A-6A Intruder), VFP-63 Det.42 "Eyes of the Fleet" (Vought RF-8G Crusader), VAW-121 Det.42 "Griffins" (Grumman E-1B Tracer), VAQ-130 Det. 42 "Zappers" (Douglas EKA-3B Skywarrior), and HC-2 DET.42 "Fleet Angels" (Kaman UH-2A/B Seasprite).

USN:
USS Lexington (CV-2) and battleships and cruisers of the US Pacific Fleet paying a visit to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard at Bremerton, Washington. Lexington had a .50cal gallery fitted to the top of her stack in Sept 1935 which is missing in this picture. It must be after 1933 when the hammerhead crane was built.
It looks like some work is being done to the top of her stack so this may be the summer of 1935. On the opposite side of the pier is a Colorado class battleship with a Tennessee class ship moored aft. To the right is a New Mexico class battleship with what looks like another Colorado behind.
Extreme right is an Omaha class light cruiser with another of the class leaving the yard in the distance.

RN:
County class destroyer Glamorgan returning home to Portsmouthfrom the Falklands in 1982 . She remained on the gunline providing naval gunfire support to the troops advancing on Stanley for longer than she really should have, by about two hours, as her captain realised that the Royal Marines had been delayed in their advance. She was hit by an Exocet fired from the shore. The Navigating Officer and on the bridge, saw the launch, and turned the ship hard in an attempt to avoid the missile. He nearly succeeded but she was hit right aft, which undoubtedly saved her. If she’d been hit broadside on the seaslug magazine would have gone up, destroying the ship with a huge loss of life. The missile hit the hangar and then destroyed the main galley. Fourteen were killed
