November 3, 2021 An elephant walk was held in Atsugi to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the JMSDF aviation group.
Fifteen JMSDF aircraft and one US Navy P-8 participated in the runway in a platoon.

November 17, 2021, the lead non-nuclear submarine JS Taigei (SS 513) of the new class Taigei (29SS), built for the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Forces, entered the sea for the first factory sea trials.

The new submarine is equipped with lithium-ion storage batteries (like the last two in the series of Soryu class submarines), a new combat information management system. The displacement of the new submarine is 100 tons more than the 2947-ton Soryu.
The construction of the second submarine of a new type is underway at the Kawasaki Heavy Industries shipyard.
 
November 25, 2021, P-1 patrol aircraft (number 5534), built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries for the needs of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Forces, made its first test flight from the airfield of the Gifu Flight Test Center of the Japanese Air Defense Forces.

The new Type 20 5.56 × 45 mm assault rifle manufactured by the Japanese company Howa Machinery has begun to enter service with the Japan Self-Defense Forces.
The Japanese defense department in 2020 purchased the first batch of 3283 Type 20 assault rifles in the amount of 1 billion yen (approximately 8.6 million euros).
