Photos Turkey -PRE & During WWII

Middle East. 22 June 1943. The leader of a formation, briefing pilots of the Turkish Air Force before they flew Bisley bomber aircraft supplied by Britain from a desert airfield in the Middle East to bases in Turkey. Squadrons of the Turkish Air Force are being equipped with British aircraft of various types. Bombers and fighters are being sent to airfields in Turkey in increasing numbers. The aircraft are assembled on landing grounds in the Middle East and flown to their destinations by pilots of the Turkish Air Force. The pilots are given refresher courses at RAF training centres before they take over the aircraft.

TURKISH OFFICERS AND A GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL WHO BOARDED HMT "EKATERINA COUMANTAROU" ON HER ARRIVAL AT ISKENDUN (ALEXANDRETTA) FROM AUSTRALIA CARRYING MEDIUM DRAUGHT HORSES FOR THE TURKISH ARMY. THE HORSES WERE IN CHARGE OF THE REMOUNT DETACHMENT, AUSTRALIAN IMPERIAL FORCES, A UNIT ESPECIALLY RAISED FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESCORTING REMOUNTS TO THE MIDDLE EAST.

" Kuleli Military High School, during the World War II, as a precaution the Germans were come up to the Balkan states Turkey's borders In May 1941, school was transferred to Konya (central anatholia). High School, continued education there until end of World War II. On August 18, 1947 school came back to Istanbul and finally regained its historical home. "

April 1939 - About 5 months before the start of the war, Joseph Goebbels came to Istanbul and visited Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque.

But I guess our bois don't care much about the Goebbels. When they went to meet, only the deputy governor went to welcome him. Our people probably didn't know enough about the man behind the scenes of the Big Third Reich and nsdap.

Own opinion he did to plan to plant a cross here (hagia sophia) as a big propaganda victory symbol? Because before the operation barbarossa starts Nazis were fighting with the Greeks and then world was waiting to the next target the Soviets or Turkey? Btw Mussolini's constant threat of Turkey is on first page of this thread.
