I'm gonna go way out on a limb here......this taliban, while still my blood enemy & I don't agree with their beliefs of killing infidels that won't convert to islam, seem different & a tad more modern with the way they plan on running things. The leaders are older & hopefully wiser in running an entire country. They seemed to be trying to reign in the younger rank & file soldiers that are feeling their oats around the average citizens. There is an armed resistance of citizens which probably includes a fair number of ex ANA leading the smash & run bombings that started last weekend. Things are going to get a lot worse for the Afghan people, food is short supply, no cash, you can get shot for the minorest of crimes. People are leaving the cities to go to family in the rural areas where the food is. Agriculture will be their only hope for a few years until jobs that pay a living wage begin to exist to the average Joe. I've been invited to visit some of my Commando new residents on post today. My wife tells me I need to plan on talking up their new appliances in their base housing, some seem to prefer to wash clothes in tubs & cook over open fires in their back yards but most wives have started wearing jeans & tees instead of hijabs. Can't wait to see that, haha. The Lutheran church [National Church] on post had a big crowd yesterday, we were never allowed to talk religion in Country so this sorta surprises me. It's going to be interesting to watch them assimilate being Danish If & when they move off post.
