Some stuff I've painted up for Team Yankee over the past year or two. Haven't ever played a game as I don't know anyone else in my area who plays it, but I just like painting MERDC cammo.

I was feeling inspired recently and went and bought some British Army Scorpions to paint up as NZ Army Scorpions in the schmexy 1980's Red Desert MERDC cammo.

I obtained a pair of Zvedza's 1/100th scale M2 Bradleys from their Hot War series as Battlefront haven't released their version yet.

It's not a bad kit. Just 16 pieces and it's push together so you theoretically don't even need glue (but I glued everything just in case). Only problem is that it's clearly an M2A2 with the extended armour and so not really suitable for 1985.

Photos taken with a Flames of War M1 Abrams and a M113 Gavin for size comparison.

So I bought my first Red Army units for Team Yankee. A pair of T-64 platoons (10 tanks), a scout section of two BMP-2 and a platoon of infantry.

Here are some T-64s and the BMP's advancing through the West German countryside.

I really enjoyed assembling and painting these (which still need more weathering and the decals applied) and want to expand it.

I also bought the British Army starter set:

5 x Challengers
2 x Chieftain's
2 x MLRS
2 x Warrior ICV
2 x Scimitar
4 x Fox
2 x TOW Lynx
1 x Mechanized Infantry Company
1 x Milan Platoon

which I'm in the middle of assembling/painting/etc.

The Red Army advance to the Rhine is halted as the IKEA at Wülpertinger is secured/looted.

Note the presence of the Red Army Rifle Platoon which I have now finished painting up.

I've also been making progress on my British forces, finishing spray painting on all the basic cammo patterns on the vehicles (ignore the Israeli Merkava's in the corner).

And have painted the British Infantry Company and associated Milan Platoon, but need to apply flocking and grass tufts to finish the bases.

Finished basing the British infantry company and accompanying Milan Platoon. I'm aware that any squadie worth his pay would have his face and hands covered in cammo paint, but that would just make it look like I was lazy at tidying up my painting. I'm also aware that almost all L1A1's had switched to the black nylon furniture by 1985, but once again that would look boring so these all have wooden furniture. And hey, at least they didn't have to fight WW3 with the L85...

Thanks Tom. It's mostly 10mm or 1:100 scale with the non-helicopter aircraft being 1:144. Of which I have a few. Some RAF Tornadoes, some German F4 Phantoms and some RNZAF A4 Skyhawks (they're not a valid unit in Team Yankee so they will count as RAF Harriers).

And then there are the Helicopters which are in the same scale as the other vehicles - some AH1 Cobras and some British Lynx's to date. Hoping to add some UH1's in RNZAF colours at some point too.

My Soviet Army now has air defences. These ZSU 23-4 Shilka's should make life miserable for the Cobra and Lynx pilots out there.

I've been applying some of AK Interactives "Dust Effects" to my newer models and it looks pretty good IMHO.

Much of my British armour is now completed.

First up we have the Challenger I squadron.

Left to finish are a pair of Scimitar's, a pair of Warrior MCVs and a pair of Lynx TOW helicopters. To finish off this force I'll probably acquire a battery of three Abbot SPA's and that should do the trick.

Last of the British units completed for now.

A pair of TOW Lynx's hide behind the treeline waiting the Red Army.

The Red Army also gets reinforcements in the force of this battery of Zvedza 2S1 Carnation SPA's. The Zvedza's are plastic and thus are infinitely superior to Battlefront's resin and metal version.
