A female Texas Guardsmen from El Paso's 3rd Battalion, 133 Field Artillery Regiment, helps keep Del Rio sector's U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Border Patrol Agents rolling out to the line while working with the maintenance department mechanics. This is the first time CBP employee, Daniel Rubio, has worked with a female mechanic and the first time Pfc. Alejandra Chapa has worked with anyone from CBP. Chapa says she wants to use the deployment experience to start a career with CBP, “I want to work for CBP and get my Automotive Service Excellence Certification,” Chapa said while trying to pull a nail from a tire tread. Texas Guardsmen directly impact the mission, to get 'badges back to the border' every time a service member takes on one of the non-enforcement positions agents, typically, get detailed off the line to do, such as fleet, maintenance or weapons ranges.
