MQ-9 Reaper?

^^^
The U.S. lost two drones over Syria Tuesday after a midair collision, a defense official tells Military Times.

Images of burning aircraft crashing to the ground were posted on Twitter Tuesday. There was speculation that the aircraft were MQ-9 Reapers — a remotely piloted aircraft used predominately as an armed hunter-killer drone, but also capable of surveillance and intelligence collection — and were shot down.

However, the defense official could not confirm the type of drone involved.
Reports indicate there was a collision, the defense official said, but whether they were shot at afterwards — and whether that caused the crash — is unclear.

I wonder what was going on to justify 2 drones in such close proximity.

May be some intense hunting for jihadists.

Worrying stuff. As it seemed entirely avoidable and pre-organised it's a message from Russia or local command,
What's at play here?

We'll see what happens from here. Apparently General Milley, called his Russian equivalent over this with no comment on what was discussed. 4 US soldiers were injured when the smaller of the two vehicles was rammed.

Basically, Russian pro-Kremlin media frames this incident as the spontaneous retaliation by Russian soldiers who were seeking to avenge their General who was killed by the Syrian terrorists who in their turn were encouraged to do so... by Americans.

The Russians, or should I say the Russians/Syria Assad/Iran are definitely not happy about that. Remember a few years ago when an armored column with 500 Russian "mercenaries" working for Wagner, were headed for that oil field and started firing on US positions and then about 300 Russians were killed? Probably not happy about that either.

So it was a mild protest action but looks like it is going to escalate.
