The Vietnamese Navy received 4 new multipurpose amphibious assault ships of the RoRo5612 project built by one of the Vietnamese shipyards of the international (headquartered in the Netherlands) shipbuilding group Damen Shipyards Group, and 3 ships were ordered by the Venezuelan Navy, however, due to problems with payment of the contract by Venezuela, the ships were transferred to the Vietnamese People's Navy.

Owing to its limitations, the Army plans to use the UGV as a "sentry": It would be placed along the trenches to flush out infiltrators. In theory, the UGV should save manpower and reduce casualties.
Vietnam received the first batch of Yak-130 combat training aircraft built by the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, a branch of PJSC Irkut Corporation. In 2019, a contract was signed for the purchase of at least 12 Yak-130 combat training aircraft worth more than $ 350 million.
The squadron of Russian aircraft purchased by the Vietnamese Air Force is to replace the outdated Czechoslovakian L-39s supplied to the country since the early 1980s. The Yak-130 will be transferred to the 915th training aviation regiment, formed at one of the Vietnamese air bases in 2018.
