They were all working for Russia, and high level officers had Russian passports. I posted numbers before, most of the units stationed in Crimea defection rate ran between 75% and 90% for personnel of all levels. And one more thing to add. In February of 2014 even if social discontent and post-revolution mayhem not taken into account, Ukraine only had 6,000 combat ready troops.

No revocation of the citizenship so that they can be tried in absentia for treason. Only a few guys who were dumb enough to cross into Ukrainian mainland have been captured, tried, and convicted.

Another batch of 50(!) BMP-1s from unnamed European countries have arrived in Ukraine and went through an upgrade process prior to delivery to the combat units. Look at the immaculate condition.
