berkut76..A question. .... do you have any information on the total casualties of both Ukrainian and Russian in this conflict? Do the Russian even post casualties because as we all know they are not officially involved in this conflict.
Thanks!
Let's start with Russia. Any kind of losses are classified and revealing them is considered to be treason by the recently enacted Russian laws. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure that there is no comprehensive Russian statistics either, since the Russian forces consist of Russian regulars, volunteers from Russia and other countries as well as mercenaries (this could include mercenaries per se and Russian regulars on "leave of absence"), foreign mercenaries (yep, separate category), and colonial troops (i.e. local separatists).
Russian interpretation of Ukrainian losses is laughable because according to semi-official Russian sources these losses include: 103 members of the US Special forces (various branches), 1,066 mercenaries from Poland, US, UK as well as ISIS penal battalions (I'm not making this up. Onion wouldn't be able to compete with "official" sources in Russia)
I'm working today and need to do some extra research, but Ukrainian combat losses (including losses to accidents and illness in the combat zone) from all the branches of the military, police, national guard, border guards, SBU are about 4,000 KIA. Russian "regulars" should be 1:1, and the rest of the Russian forces that bore the burden of the fighting should be 3:1 to Ukrainian ones.
