The Turkish Armed Forces launched a counter-terrorism operation in Hakurk, northern Iraq, according to a statement by Turkish National Defense Ministry on Tuesday.
The military offensive initiated on Monday aims to neutralize terrorists in the area and destroy their caves and shelters, the ministry said.
The Ministry underlined that the operation was ongoing as planned.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including many women and children.

The presence of PKK terror elements the area has been posing a national security threat to Ankara for decades with frequent attacks in southeastern Turkey.
Dubbed Operation Claw, the military offensive is aimed at neutralising terrorists and destroying the caves and shelters they are using in the mountainous Iraqi region.
It began on Monday with artillery shelling and continued with air strikes and commando operations, officials said.
The aircraft itself is a F-16C Block-30, one of the ones used for Project "Özgür" modernization including Turkish made flight electronics, avionics and AESA radar with open-code flight & weapon systems computer. Although the rest of the Turkish F-16 fleet (Block-40 and Block-50s) have already updated with CCIP modernization by TAI with AN/APG-68 V(9) radars & latest avionics, IFF & RWR sensors, SLEP update on engines and new RAM coating these Block-30s have used on to develop indigenous flight systems and electronics which can be used for future Turkish air platforms.

I'm still not convinced by the usefulness of pixelated camouflage under any circumstances. Yes, that mishmash confuses the eye quite splendidly; but straight lines and right angles hardly ever exist naturally, thus attract attention.
