Politics Syrian Civil War

Road to Aleppo documentary by ANNA news team.
Lots of great combat footage as always (drone footage of artillery strikes, night vision videos, destroyed turkish APCs, suicide bombers etc) from the current offensive in eastern Idlib.

Regarding the knocked out Turkish APC, are Turkish forces engaged in combat, or are those APCs given to Turkish allies?

Political talks came to a fruitless end.

The possibility of Turkish military operation agaist the regime only is unlikely. Personally, I do not see how russia would not defend the regime in which it invested so much resouces in order to just keep it alive.

However, Turkish troops continue their deployment to Idlib and reinforce their positions.

Meanwhile, the refugee situation is not getting any better, very few civilians who fled are willing to return to the SAA-controlled territory.

The Syrian Minister of Transport, Ali Hammoud, announced on Monday the reopening of the Aleppo International Airport, with the first flight arriving from Damascus international airport, with flights to Cairo and Damascus scheduled in the next few days. Aleppo International was closed for civil flights for 8 years.

Aleppo International Airport is out of reach from any battlefield from a long time, so the most likely reason for it's prolonged closure are Bashar's "allies" which are using it for their logistics without even sharing it with the Syrian citizens. And when this facility could become point of interest for the Turkish Air force because of the current escalation, the Regime is showing us how much he "cares" about it's people.

Russian and US troops so close...in such a volatile environment...

Thank God the Russian vehicle did'nt crash in a turkish "observation" post.

2 TAF soldiers killed in air strike. Turkey claim that SAF performed that air strike but all points to RuAF .

That was a short but intense attack by jihadists on the Nayrab. Turkish army supported offensive with artillery, UAV, probably tanks. Russian airforce conducted powerful strikes on artillery positions. Turks responded with MANPADS (missed due to high altitude). When two turkish soldiers and a number of rebel infantry were killed, operation was halted and jihadists retreated.

Both sides still trying downplayed this. RuMOD said Turks stopped using of artillery just after phone call. Turks said that was a Syrian airforce, not Russian.

This should be a joke because the absurdity of such situation would be comical at least and at best it would be a great illustration to the whole situation right now. However, in case it isn't a joke I should say that they physically would not be able to do that because it happened near Qamishli in Hakasa province, in the far North-Eastern part of Syria. That said, US troops are in much more safe enviroment than whoever is in the Idlib province right now

Any truth in claims that 2 Russian uav were destroyed?

A Turkish source said the rejected Russian proposal would have left 60% of the Idlib province under Assad control, requiring the relocation of Turkish military stations to new borders north of the M4 and M5 highways

60% of the Idlib province under Assad control?

So... 60% of the Syrian Idlib province, in Syria, under Syrian control?

How dare the Syrians claim their land as their own?

Following the offensive on Idlib, Hulusi Akar claimed Turkey could be provided Patriot missiles, from the US, to establish a safe zone from air and missile attacks.

Which is... weird? Since the Patriot deal was called off some time ago, thus pushing Turkey to buy S400 from Russia...

Hulusi Akar, while on CNN Türk, also voiced a fairly cryptic claim: that only once "legitimate" elections have taken place and designated a "legitimate" leader, with a "legitimate" leader, then "everybody will be where they need to be and so will we (Turkey)".
Which begs several questions:
-Isn't Assad the legitimate leader of Syria as far as things are today?
-What does "legitimate" mean in Akar's mind?
-What does he mean by "everybody will be where they need to be and so will we"? Will Turkey leave Syria? Or will Turkey proceed in a land grab?

S-400 was the winner system of the Turkey's long range air defense missie acquisition project which it competed against PAC-3, HQ-9, SAMP-T and Antey-2500. The official explanation between the decide on the S-400 against PAC-3 was stated as US side's refusal to technology share on PAC-3 SAM. However after than that Turkey were kept trying to get PAC-3M alongside with the S-400 and after realizing that is not achievable, they signed a deal with the Eurosam to produce SAMP-T system in Turkey under the name of "Siper". So original plan was to get 4 batteries of S-400 from Russia for short-run and produce 8 batteries of the SAMP-T "Siper" in long-run.

So, long but last in line with the latest diplomatical developments btw Turkey and Russia I believe they will go on with the PAC-3 instead of S-400 which only the first two batteries have delivered and kept inactive in TurAF Mürted Main Jet Base in Ankara.

Presumably another "Scarab" launch today. Probably aimed somwhere between Idlib city and Sarmin or somwhare near Sarmin as the propulsion system landed in Sarmin.
