I'm not sure but it might also be a "Beutepanzer" that had used by the Wehrmacht. The GIs seem to be inspecting the vehicle, they don't really look like the regular crew of teh tank-

IMHO its American, broken down, came via Normandy judging by the hedge trimmer for use in the Bocage, they appear to have a taped cross, not the same as the Black Balkan Cross with outlines used by the Germans on their armor, so technically they are inside the rules of war, might be covered under the ruse de Guerre.

Another batch of pictures from my collection. Unfortunately I do not have too much solid background information, I only know that the GI who took them was with the 6th Armored Division. But due to the presence of workshop trucks and M26 "Dragon Wagon" tank transporters, the pics might very well come form a member of the 128th Armored Ordnance Maintenance Battalion.

The first pic is from Southhampton, prior to D-Day. The other ones are from France, most probably from Normandy or Brittany.

The next location is marked on the pics as "Etalle, Belgium" and there is one pic marked as taken in "Mellier" then the next set of pictures seems to be from Ebly, Belgium (Note the erroneous spelling). The pics must have been taken late December 1944, early January 1945. These pics are also the first ones to have the names of the GIs shown on it marked on the backside.

After Ebly the unit seems to have stopped for a while in "Bodogne". As I couldn't find a town or a village with such a name, I suppose that the photographer got the spelling wrong and the pictures were taken in the Belgian village of Bodange, to the north-west of the bordertown of Martelange.

There are only two pictures that were taken in Luxembourg. One shows an M26 Dragon Wagon" tank transporter crossing the bridge, across the Sûre river, in Heiderscheidergrund. Another one shows aa GI in the village called "Heidsdorf", as there is no such village, I guess it is another spelling error. There are several possibilities what village it could have been and as I do not have any documentation regarding the unit it still remains a mystery....

The last pictures in the lot are from April, May, June and July and all of them were taken in Germany. The inscriptions on the back are not always easy to decipher, but they might read Altenburg, Langensalza and Frankfurt.
