PL-X/PL-17 very long range AAM carried on a JH-7A (full image to compare), via Huitong's CMA blog. Was previously observed on J-16. Conceptually somewhat similar to Russian R-37 AAM, supposed to engage high value targets (AEWC, tankers)

Not sure how I missed this before posting my link. This seems like quite a substantial fire!

Must have been Chazman. But of course the Chinese are not asking any public statements about the fire.:rolleyes: In fact the day after the fire they posted photos of how the hull was already cleaned up! Impossible I say..but that's how they roll. They like to stretch the truth.

H-6J, the naval version of the H-6 Chinese bomber. It has no bomb bay, the entire fuselage is used for fuel. Under the wings it would carry 4-6 long-range AShMs like the YJ-12.

H-6J naval bomber was spotted - taken from a Malaysian oil platform - carrying 4 YJ-12 AShMs and ECM-pods during a long range recon/"show of force" mission over the disputed South China Sea.
