Turkey:
Protected cruiser Hamidiye at anchor
Laid down in 1902, launched in 1903, and commissioned in 1904. Originally named Abdul Hamid, but name changed after the Young Turk revolution of 1908. 2x5.9in and 8x4.7in guns. Very active in the Balkan Wars and the Great War, taking damage on several occasions in the latter. Retained by the Turkish Navy after the formation of the Ataturk regime and served as a training ship for many years. Finally paid off and discarded in 1947, but survived as a hulk until scrapped in 1964.

Fletcher-class destroyer USS Haraden (DD-585) after being hit by a kamikaze, 13 December 1944.
USS Haraden (DD-585) after being hit by a Kamikaze in the Sulu Sea on 13 December 1944, while enroute to the Mindoro invasion. USS Twiggs (DD-591) is alongside rendering assistance.
Haraden and the escort carriers entered the Sulu Sea 13 December, and were attacked that day by four Japanese aircraft. Haraden assisted in downing three of the raiders, but the fourth banked left and dived for the destroyer. Trailing smoke from hits by Haraden's gunners, she crashed into the destroyer's side, putting her forward engine room out of commission and severely damaging her topside. As Haraden lay dead in the water, the destroyer Twiggs came alongside to help and the Haraden was soon underway on her own power. She arrived at San Pedro Bay 14 December 1944 and transferred her casualties—14 killed and 24 wounded. Steaming on toward the United States via Hawaii, she arrived at Puget Sound Navy Yard, Bremerton, Washington on 14 January 1945 for battle repairs.

Overhead view of USS Antietam (CVS 36) underway in January 1953 off the Virginia Capes. When this photograph was taken, the carrier was unlike any other in the U.S. Navy in that she featured an early angled flight deck. Tests carried out on board the ship during this at-sea period revealed the inherent advantages of this type flight deck, which became standard on new carrier construction and in conversions of Essex and Midway-class ships.
