I guess the question is are the Yemenis good or are the Saudis just terrible?
The Saudi are terrible.
The Yemeni are probably not bad.
Performing a bridage level combined arm operation with a pincer in depth in ennemy territory, coordinated with ballistic missiles interdiction missions over ennemies airstrips and intel on ennemy's rear positions means at least a good HQ job.
I dont know a lot of armies that could do that outside western and like armies. Not other ME armies except Israel, not African armies, not South american armies, probably not a lot of asian armies either

I think a bit of both, by this stage in the proceedings, the Yemeni side have had all their Rambo's killed off and those left are canny, experienced fighters. The Saudi's on the other hand have the mindset of outsourcing all their "menial" tasks, which includes those doing the "dirty work" in the armed forces. They are basically cannon fodder, equipped with gear that other forces would drool over, but led by puffed up fools

Saudis are bad no doubts.

But yemenis are the worst type of the enemy - they: 1) have whole lives of combat expirience and 2) have nothing to lose. Even US military (one of the best in the world) expirienced almost 20 years of failure in Afghanistan with the same type of enemy. Because you can not win them other way then kill them all.

Israel:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urgently wants to supplement the defence budget by a few billion shekels to improve the missile defence system in identifying incoming cruise missiles. The security cabinet met Sunday afternoon to discuss the issue of the threat from Iran.

Netanyahu is responding to the Iranian attack on two Saudi oil facilities on September 14. In a sophisticated attack, Iran used a combination of drones and an Iranian version of cruise missiles.

An initial evaluation of the massive damage shows that the Iranians managed to bypass the radar of the American Patriot missile batteries in Saudi Arabia. The attack, which also made an impression on Israeli defence officials, could require changes in Israel’s defensive preparations, too.

It seems that to improve capabilities to prevent similar attacks, Israel will have to upgrade its ability to identify incoming threats. And to certain extent it will have to change the way it operates now – and possibly strengthen the Israeli-made Magic Wand (David’s Sling) interceptor system for middle-range missiles, and the veteran American Patriot PAC-2 missiles.

saudi leader of wahabi destory houti pro shia because saudi hate iran leader of shia, hate shia near saudi and
influence in yemen replace iran.

Saudis figured they both can play this game..?

I tend to think the other way around. That both can make baseless claims and lit one of their own ships on fire, in order to throw a big turd at its neighbour´s just fresh painted wall.
Its like kids playing the blame game, at times they hit themselves to blame the other and try to get him punished.

I'd agree - why would the Saudis risk an eco-disaster just off Jeddah when they're trying to boost tourism all up that coast as part of MbS's Vision 2030?

Could also be some trigger happy irregular affiliated with either side mistaking the ship for a fair target (Houthis shooting the ship thinking it is a saoudi one or some pro saoudi yemeni force shooting the ship because they can)

Dont think Yemenís had anything to do with this, as the ship was hit 700km up the Red Sea almost at the Southern Egypt Border.
Thats a long way, no matter how good your Flip Flops are ;)

I thought it was southern of Jeddah which means in the operational range of small patrol boats the houthi have used successfuly already against GCC ships. If it was up north, it seems indeed unlikely.

On the other hand in front of sudan, could be sudanese regulars or irregulars
Close to erythrea there is an IDF base there too.
And there are also AQ/ISIS groups lurking in the south Sinai (dont know if they have AshM though)
So much possible culprits in a plausible deniability operation.
The Occam razor says the closer the culprit though. I can totaly see the saoudi do that to regain some "honor" after the various spanking they got the past weeks

I'd send that entire band to fight the Houtis.
