The Irish Defence Forces (Óglaigh na hÉireann) are currently participating in MILEX24, the EU Crisis Management Military Live Exercise, taking place in Bergen, Germany. As a component of the EU Battle Group, Irish personnel are providing a Force Protection Company during an intensive Command Post Exercise, while also conducting Live Fire Tactical Training up to Mechanised Infantry Company level. The exercise has seen approximately 1,700 military personnel from 17 EU Member States, including Ireland, deployed. MILEX24 aims to evaluate and enhance the interoperability of participating nations' forces in planning and executing joint operations across strategic, operational, and tactical levels.
Ireland's involvement in MILEX24 underscores its commitment to international cooperation, crisis response, and contribution to enhancing European security and peacekeeping capabilities. The exercise serves as a platform to pressure test and refine multinational coordination and operational effectiveness in potential crisis scenarios.
