Justice a long time coming, I served with the Irish Peacekeeping Battalion in question, this happened near the end of the trip, Tom and Derick were taken as prisoners, then driven away and murdered in cold blood, just prior to that Pte O’Mahony had been wounded but managed to escape outside of the school building they were being kept in, we had already lost Private Stevie Griffin who was mortally wounded during the Battle of At-Tiri a short period before, during that time a Fijian peacekeeper was also killed at At-Tiri Private Sevati Sovonaivalu.

A former ice-cream seller has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of two Irish peacekeeping troops in south Lebanon 40 years ago.
