Since he dispelled parliament last year, and the elections results were catastrophic, Macron has been desperately trying to regain a bit of relevance on the inner French political stage. He's leaving his Prime Ministers run the show on socioeconomic matters and take the blows for the needed painful reforms, preserving what's left of his popularity, and returning toe the President's traditional role of leading foreign policies matters... which is not working either, since his subservience to Brussels & Von der Leyen prevents him from doing what's necessary to preserve French interests.
