"Philippine Air Force rescues 16 residents, including 6 children stranded in a mountainside community in Sitio Kapatagan, Brgy. Luayon in Makilala Cotabato. With no food and water and cut off by landslides, a helicopter rescue was their only way out.
With only a small strip of road flanked by deep ravines on either side as a landing area, soldiers had to cut several trees to allow a safe helicopter rescue.
Soldiers from the Emergency Responder Company of the Army 10th Infantry Division who walked for a day to locate the stranded residents and aid in the rescue operation, were also airlifted back.
Everyone was told to evacuate because of the continuing danger of more landslides in the area."
