Hhhmmm, so Algeria now manufactures it's own AKM rifle, the PM-89 and the AKMS, PM-89A?
(they both look near identical to the Chinese Type-56, AKM model)

Going back in time...mid to late 1960's. Why? Due to the Blumentarn-pattern field uniform being worn by this soldier.

Mid production MpikM (AKM) rifle. (Synthetic, stipple-bead buttstock)

Still going... Rk.62 PT
If I understand correctly, this is the Valmet Rk rifle that began issue with the FDF in the 1960's, yes?
Interesting to see it still used and in such numbers. Yes, if it still works, keep using it ;-)

Very interesting. Thank you.

Today the first photographs of the new AK-521 Kalashnikov assault rifle in 5.45×39 mm caliber have appeared. Now the machine is being tested.

All that can be said so far from these photos is that the basic design has been significantly changed, there has been a transition to the Aper-lower scheme.
On the machine, you can also see a new fuse – a firing mode switch and a completely new thing for AK, a cover that protects the shutter travel window from pollution.

The machine uses old accessories from AK-12/15.
