Russia supplied Northern Alliance 1.0 back in the 90´s when the budgetary problems were way worse, because Russia is not interested in Taliban interference in Tadjikistan, Uzbekistan.... Nowadays the Russian interests are the same, if Taliban don´t mess with Russian friends in Central Asia Russia won´t have a lot of interest in supplying the Northern Alliance 2.0, but if Terries decide to export their version of "religion of peace" outside Afghanistan to the neighbouring countries, Russia will take measures to stop Taliban actions. At the same time Taliban were conquering Afghanistan and arrived to the Afghan-Tadjik border, Russian, Tadjik and Uzbek armies had a joint exercise. Don´t think is just a coincidence.
