Photos Afghan Armed Forces (Prior to 2021)

I was out shopping today and you would be hard-pressed to think that anyone even gave a S**t about Afghanistan or even know where it is. I'm not losing any sleep over it at all. Just feel for all our vets and the vets of our allies that served there. Life goes on. I will say the money we spent there would have been better served building bridges, hospitals, etc.
That's where the problem is, the lessons will be forgotten and it will be repeated. Again and again.
Imagine if 2 trillion was spent within the US.
People and countries stumble into world wars because they miscalculate. This will be easy. This will end quickly. My enemy is weak. Somehow things happen unpredictably. What I'm referring to is the CCP gloating about Biden's incompetence and feeling that taking Taiwan just got easier. If I had to predict where WWIII will start, that's the place.

Regarding Bagram, that's Lara Logan saying that. Someone I have a lot of respect for. Bagram should never have been secretly abandoned in the middle of the night. That made no sense - yet is par for the course for this bumbling administration.Bagram should have been the last outpost. Just pure stupidity.
Regarding doing "something right" by working with the Taliban part, the incredible level of incompetence of this administration has precluded all other options. Sad, really. Other than the Elites making money in Afghanistan, everyone was ready to leave. It just didn't have to be such a clusterfark. But stolen elections have consequences. The Elites will still make money there, unless the CCP screws them over, which is certainly in the realm of possibilities since that's the normal outcome.

Regarding Duterte, you are under the perception that someone in the US actually cares what he does. No one here gives a S**t. Honestly, no one.
Im not in the perception that someone in the US actually cares, what I am saying is thei last move, actually validated Duterte's stance of distancing from the US. It was a very unpopular stance and caused him a lot of points to the population. He was very close in abolishing the Visiting Forces Agreement with the US, but there was too much push back in the country. Now, it seems that he is right.

It might seem little at first, until your realize Thailand is now working with China, Singapore is moving away from American influence, Indonesia never really did trust the US. That leaves Malaysia and the Philippines in the ASEAN... China is moving fast and might just get the ASEAN region as part of its sphere of influence without firing a single shot.
I feel that before this is over the coalition is going to need a Bagram type air base to make the taliban own up to their agreements. Either Bagram or an airbase real near the border, maybe Uzbek, just a gut feeling we're going to need something to hold their feet to the fire. & for the record we have Elbit defensive weapons that handles manpad & missile launches. & there is always flares, the French have been using them for a few days.
I was not talking about manpads, but more of human bombs or RPGs on the runways. It seems to me that the worst case expected is not happening and I have a feeling a big part of that is the Taliban making sure it doesnt happen. Not belittling the security efforts done by US and the Allies, but its surprisingly peaceful... chaotic but peaceful

From an ANA Commando 2 hours ago. Map is looking better by the day. Hopefully true.

Not trying to sound like a Debbie Downer but this isn’t 2001.

The resistance will require a wealthy sponsor with the capability of resupplying them.

China/Pakistan will be backing Team Terry the Taliban.

Russia is broke and seems willing to work in with Team Terry.

Iran is distracted, broke, more likely to support Shia Hazara, and more interested in avoiding another slaughter of Iranians diplomats or trouble on their border.

The US supporting and supplying resistance will likely be akin to clandestine night time airdrops of Ukrainian resistance to Soviet Occupation in the early Post WWII days of CIA.

That’s didn’t work out so well.

the best short term leverage would appear to be financial.

Terry Taliban has some truly dangerous cash flow problems.

A cash flow problem that Im pretty sure China would be more than eager to exploit.

If you are wondering what's up with CIA, these are the kind of tweets you get from Michael Hayden, former head of the CIA.

Cash flow may be the Taliban's biggest short term problem. A country needs to run. People who run it need to get paid. They can't live on love, they need cash.

That's going to be tricky. Perhaps Milley and Austin will have to put CRT and White Rage classes to the back burner for a few days.

That will be interesting. As per usual, CCP money will have strings attached. The Taliban won't be understanding when the CCP starts seizing airports and roads as collateral.

The current US Administration has not only made ever possible mistake regarding Afghanistan, I think they hired think tanks to come up with new ones…… If the clown in the White House doesn‘t make a U-Turn in the coming days Uncle Sam‘s credibility as an ally will be in the shitter.
If they can show success against the Taliban, someone will arm them. Who knows, could even be China after they have their eventual falling out with the Taliban.

In op-eds published in the French press, the 32-year-old Massoud has appealed to Paris as his main hope. His intermediary with the top echelons of power is the philosopher, public intellectual and journalist Bernard-Henri Lévy, who traveled to the Panjshir Valley to write a story on him in the magazine Paris Match last October.

Poor Massoud... BHL is a snake-oil salesman and a grifter.

I apologize for, perhaps, touching on the wrong topic, but do you(or someone other) have any links to the documents about american military assistance to so-called Ukrainian resistance to Soviet Occupation?

I like how they link black ISIS flags and black ISIS clothes to "Taliban"
And I like how they fail to notice the color-correlation with Antifa

From sources on the ground, women have cut off all their hair to look like men in case they are discovered.

In other news, JSDF is sending planes to help with the evacuation.
