Thats going to be some crazy final run...

Current estimates are there are 6-8K remaining Afghan National Army Commando Corps in all of Afghanistan. They will have no problem exiting Afghanistan, the taliban are scared shitless of them. Those already at KBL have voluntarily agreed to help with evacuation of civilians & are currently out & about collecting bonified Afghans on the exit lists & physically bringing them back to KBL to exfil. Not sure if most people are aware the Commando Corps have been offered a ticket out for them & their families, instant citizenship in their new homeland & a well paying job in the military once they settle in. A few are on their way already to their new Countries but most are sending their families on & will follow once the mission is done. Any Country will be lucky to have them, highly trained, well educated & their hearts & heads are screwed on straight. & for the record planes are flying again.

Tell her for me, a butt bomber & choke points down the flight line. My worst nightmare is the tail of my aircraft being blown off & dumping 300 people out the ass end of a plummeting aircraft at 30,000 feet. So we are going to take an extra hour to sniff every passenger [& their crotches] before being allowed to board. My wife & kids & I want to come home intact with all my parts [the crew wear parachutes below 10,000 feet so we may make it]. Due to the record number of flights last night we overloaded a few intermediate airports & some of them called us on it, sorry, we promise to plan better. We are doing the best we can with the mission that was handed us & we well understand lives of good people are at stake & it's uncomfortable waiting an extra 8-10 hrs to see KBL in the rear view mirror to get them to their destination. At some point I should get used to the media second guessing us, snipping on every misstep & challenging every detail. Unfortunately I left my textbook on evacuations at home & think by now my dogs, goats & horses may have eaten it. Hopefully smart people well above my paygrade are making some notes for future planning if this situation comes up again during my career. On a happier note, Danes have a high ranking VIP visiting for a few days & he remembered to being a few cold beers, some hot food [carbs] & Danish cookies to share [enuf to share with the little passengers] & has kindly patted us each on our heads & said good job & that goes a long way in my book.

Some nights a few of us sit around after evening meal & our 2 allowed beers & play "I'm the enemy" & if I was the taliban I'd make the Coalition/US give up all bases capable of airstrikes, stay within the confines of KBL, either give up the Afghan Commandos or take them with the exiting military forces & release the 22 tons of Afghan gold stored in NYC, USA to the taliban. So far the US has done the 1st 3. The younger taliban are semi well educated & smart, they are a force to recon with but a lot also have picked up moderate western ideas.

Glad that's happening, like I said before it would be worth it to save those commandos. Well trained, combat experience, and I'm pretty sure would be loyal to their new homes.
