The ships in the picture are, front to rear:

  • Chōkai
  • Maya
  • Atago
  • Takao
  • Aoba
  • Kinugasa
  • Furutaka
  • Nagara
  • Isuzu
  • Natori
The first 4 are heavy cruisers of the Takao class, the next 2 of the Aoba-class, the next 1 of the Furutaka-class, and the last 3 light cruisers of the Nagara-class. All except Takao would be sunk in 1942-45.

There also seems to be another, somewhat smaller ship on the upper left side, just in front of Natori. Probably a destroyer.

Bespokoyny was a Sovremenny-class destroyer, commissioned in 1991 as part of the Baltic Fleet. It had a relatively uneventful and short career, participating in various naval exercises with NATO countries throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, with it last going to sea in 2007. After 2007, it was cannibalised for parts (mainly engines) for other destroyers of the same class, and finally turned into a museum ship in 2018.

The original Italian dreadnought. 12x12in guns in triple turrets and part of the secondary battery in twin turrets. Despite being a one off, the design had considerable influence. All Russian dreadnoughts adopted this basic layout and the Argentine dreadnoughts copied the machinery arrangements.

The boat entered Norfolk Naval Shipyard on 5 February 2010 for modernization, maintenance, and upgrades, expected to cost around $35 million for 640,000-man hours, and included changing the submarine's buoyancy characteristics and upgrading its sonar capabilities. The work was completed and the sub returned to the fleet on 26 July 2010
