Russia:
Project 09852 "Belgorod" is a modified Oscar II-class nuclear submarine, laid down in 1992 as a nuclear cruise missile submarine. Construction was put on hold in 1997 due to the severe economic crisis following the collapse of the USSR, with the hull being mothballed in 1998. However, due to the loss of the submarine "Kursk" in 2000, a decision was made to resume construction to replace "Kursk". By 2006 the submarine was around 80% complete when the Russian Navy announced that it had decided to not commission the submarine. Several options were considered, including arming the submarine with newer cruise missiles or selling it to the Indian Navy. In 2012 it was announced that "Belgorod" would be completed as a special operations submarine. The submarine was taken out of drydock in 2019 and has started sea trials earlier this year.

Capabilities
"Belgorod" is able to carry the Poseidon, a nuclear-armed unmanned underwater vehicle, as well as potentially be a mother ship for the Paltus-class mini-submarine. It is currently the longest submarine in the world, being 11 meters longer than the Typhoon-class.
