A lot of "lesser" captured equipment was sent to the Balkans for anti-partisan service. We also see Italian light tanks and Russian armored cars used there. The theory was that more of the better German machines would be free for fighting the Soviets and in the western front.

Well, it's not like Yugoslav partisans have anything efficient to counter even the obsolete light armored vehicles. Also, the less is said about, 7. SS-Freiwilligen Gebirgs-Division "Prinz Eugen" the better.

The photo was taken during Operation Rheinübung in May of 1941. Prinz Eugen had a team of Wehrmacht Propaganda reporters filming the ship during the operation. This photo is a still taken from the footage recorded by the Wehrmacht. Rheinübung was Bismark's final operation as she was sunk on 27 May 1941 with the Prinz Eugen narrowly escaping. The film was never released but Paul Schmalenbach donated the film after the war to an Prinz Eugen veterans group.

The design was a response to Hermann Göring's call for light bomber designs capable of meeting the "3×1000" requirement; namely to carry 1,000 kilograms (2,200 lb) of bombs a distance of 1,000 kilometres (620 mi) with a speed of 1,000 kilometres per hour (620 mph). Only jets could provide the speed, but these were extremely fuel-hungry, so considerable effort had to be made to meet the range requirement. Based on a flying wing, the Ho 229 lacked all extraneous control surfaces to lower drag. It was the only design to come even close to the requirements, and received Göring's approval. Its ceiling was 15,000 metres (49,000 ft)
