A lot of "lesser" captured equipment was sent to the Balkans for anti-partisan service. We also see Italian light tanks and Russian armored cars used there. The theory was that more of the better German machines would be free for fighting the Soviets and in the western front.

Well, it's not like Yugoslav partisans have anything efficient to counter even the obsolete light armored vehicles. Also, the less is said about, 7. SS-Freiwilligen Gebirgs-Division "Prinz Eugen" the better.

Bismarck and Prinz Eugen conducting refueling exercises, Apr-May 1941
The photo was taken during Operation Rheinübung in May of 1941. Prinz Eugen had a team of Wehrmacht Propaganda reporters filming the ship during the operation. This photo is a still taken from the footage recorded by the Wehrmacht. Rheinübung was Bismark's final operation as she was sunk on 27 May 1941 with the Prinz Eugen narrowly escaping. The film was never released but Paul Schmalenbach donated the film after the war to an Prinz Eugen veterans group.

Horten Ho 229 prototype. It was a German prototype fighter/bomber initially designed by Reimar and Walter Horten to be built by Gothaer Waggonfabrik late in World War II. It was the first flying wing to be powered by jet engines

The design was a response to Hermann Göring's call for light bomber designs capable of meeting the "3×1000" requirement; namely to carry 1,000 kilograms (2,200 lb) of bombs a distance of 1,000 kilometres (620 mi) with a speed of 1,000 kilometres per hour (620 mph). Only jets could provide the speed, but these were extremely fuel-hungry, so considerable effort had to be made to meet the range requirement. Based on a flying wing, the Ho 229 lacked all extraneous control surfaces to lower drag. It was the only design to come even close to the requirements, and received Göring's approval. Its ceiling was 15,000 metres (49,000 ft)

U-135 with Captain Praetorius wearing the white cap.

For her last patrol, she left Lorient on 7 June 1943. Northeast of the West Indies, she attacked and damaged Twickenham on the 15th. She then moved to the east Atlantic where she was attacked by the sloop HMS Rochester, the corvettes HMS Migonette and Balsam and a US PBY Catalina flying boat of VP-92. U-135 was sunk east of the Canary Islands on 15 July. Five men died, there were 41 survivors.
