How'd ya spot that........Good OBS mate!! Wonder why that's set up like that, interesting!
They use the LAV's as anti-smallcraft defence as the sensors on the LAV for small targets is superior to the sensors onboard ship. They started doing it here in Australia with the Adelaide class LPH's with great success and the USMC took the idea home with them.

They use the LAV's as anti-smallcraft defence as the sensors on the LAV for small targets is superior to the sensors onboard ship. They started doing it here in Australia with the Adelaide class LPH's with great success and the USMC took the idea home with them.
