If I have been given a penny every time a frustrated émigré in the diaspora claimed Iran's demise or decline, I would have been rich by now.

The situation is the following: Iran has all but become a nuclear threshold state; it has out maneuvered all of its adversaries in the region's proxy fights, with the likes of Saudi now begging for negotiations and a truce; its military industry has made serious strides and now boosts various indigenous systems that are getting praised by even American and Israeli officials.

Some meaningless territorial changes in the Caucasian theatre will have little to none effect on its cohesion and strength.

And soon the problems with Iran's economy will be solved as well. Iran's future is bright. We have become the regional powerhouse now.

Allright, we'll wait and see, then. I don't mind being wrong, I'm not a fanatic muslim, afterall.

Also, few days ago some Iranian oficials expressed concern over three issues: a joint military drill that Azerbaijani troops conducted alongside their Turkish and Pakistani counterparts some 500 kilometers from the Iranian border; Azerbaijani restrictions on Iranian truck drivers' access to Armenia and the detention of two drivers; and Azerbaijani ties to Iran’s archenemy Israel.

They say that Israel military stationed near the border but I think Turkey as well as Iran taking on Turkey in Idlib, Syria for last few days.

During the last war between Armenia and Azerbaijan (supported by its patron Turkey), the Armenians got heavily defeated. As they got pounded by Turkish and Israeli drones from the skies, Armenia hastily agreed to a cessation of hostillies that basically amounted to a surrender.

But this came at a price; besides giving up some territories, Armenia apparently (at least that is what Azerbaijan/Turkey claim) agreed to allow a corridor through its lands that would connect Turkey with mainland Azerbaijan. Obviously, this corridor would have huge geopolitical ramifications.

But Armenia still hasn't made any effort to open up this corridor, and now claims it only agreed to establish some communication routes. Lately, both wannabe sultan Erdoğan and his little pasha Aliyev have threatened to open this corridor by force if Armenia doesn't go overboard with their plans.

Iran on the hand made clear to all parties during the last war that it wouldn't accept its border with Armenia being overturned. Because if Turkey and Azerbaijan would open this corridor by force, annexing the territory, Iran would lose its connection with Armenia. And with Armenia that with Europe and the Black Sea. And since Iran doesn't want the Turks to encroach on its border, especially since Azerbaijan has close ties with Israel and Iran has a large Turkic minority of its own, Iran has threatened to intervene if any of the parties make any move.

And with China now having all kinds of extravagant plans to connect its territory with Central-Asia, Middle East and Europe, one can imagine the importance of controlling important transportion corridors that will define the economic landscape of the future.

Iran launches large-scale air defence military drill​

Tehran, Iran – Iran’s army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have launched a joint military exercise with a focus on air defence that they say will encompass half the country’s airspace.

The two-day drill, launched in Iran’s central desert area in the early hours of Tuesday, was led by the Khatam al-Anbia Air Defence Headquarters.

As part of the exercise, which military commanders said aims to closely replicate war, manned and unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles were to be launched against ground targets in order to test the performance of air defence and radar systems.

State television broadcast footage that showed several missiles being launched from locally manufactured air defence systems.

Brigadier General Qader Rahimzadeh, commander-in-chief of the Khatam al-Anbia base, said the IRGC’s 3rd Khordad missile defence system and the army’s 15th Khordad system had been deployed as part of the exercise, in addition to other Iranian electronic and cyber warfare equipment.

Brigadier General Alireza Sabahifard, commander of the air defence force, said the first day of the exercise had been successful.

“The equipment we used today are all indigenous and on the cutting edge of modern technology,” he told state television.

It came a day after Iran unveiled Majid, a short-range air defence missile system it said could be linked with a locally manufactured radar system with a range of 30km (19 miles) and could hit targets in a range of eight km (five miles).

‘Sensitive centres’​

Rahimzadeh said on Tuesday that one of the goals of the drill was to demonstrate that Iranian armed forces can defend the “sensitive and vital centres” of the country.

Several major nuclear and military sites are located in the central parts of Iran, including the Natanz nuclear facilities in Isfahan – which were the target of two sabotage attacks since last year that Iran blamed on Israel.
