Politics Syrian Civil War

Yeah, this time if Turkey opens all border to refugees inside its borders already plus those in northern Syria fleeing Idlib, we are talking potentially 6 millions.

On the upside, 6 millions refugees in Europe demanding free stuffs would mean the end of Merkel, Macaron and the EU.

We'll see how Europe reacts to Erdo's hissy fit. There have been massive riots on Lesbos and other Greek islands in the past week over refugees.

Well well well. Many people have tried to invade or dismember Mother Russia before. A quick look at History books will make you understand how that worked out for them.

Sounds almost like the kind of threats continuously issued by Iran...

Also, that's kind of funny "we fought them a lot in the past, we will do it again!". Thing is, most of the wars waged by the Ottoman Empire and Turkey against Russia resulted in defeats for Turkey.

So... Turkey was unofficially at war up until now?

And even though it is Russia that dropped the pancake on the Turkish troops?

Even the casual observer could have seen this happening from the beginning. Erdogan is a disaster. He started this whole mess years ago and every time he sticks his fingers in it, he makes it worse. Hopefully the Turkish people will see fit to get rid of this two bit dictator.

This rhetoric is aimed at domestic audience and they have own version of history where Turkey always wins.

At least somebody there is trying to calm things down.
There are plenty of Russian tourists in Turkey and if mass hysteria not controlled they can become victims of a hot head terrorist attack, which will be very bad for Turkish economy.

I would suggest that this will not be a consideration, to Turkey. And even if Turkey took these tourists as hostages, it would not change Russia’s action.

I assume there was a gentleman’s agreement between Russia and Turkey over this border area, but it doesn’t seem to be working.

war is hell.

thank you NATO for preventing this in Europe for 60 years. For everyone else, suggest you get a grip, it’s not always someone else’s son.....

Reports that 2 Turkish troops were also killed in Libya today.

Twitter reportedly shut down in Turkey.

Update: Twitter completely shutdown in Turkey. There are reports that Turkish casualties are actually far higher than reported. Turks were killed in Russian airstrike, but Erdogan is blaming Assad.

I think Edrogan dont want to mention Russia as it create like international crisis as both of them have trade deals and other interest to begin with.. but i assure turkey will respond to Russia by attacking Russia airforce and positions just like how Russia attacking Turkish soldiers, but he will not mention attacking Russia instead SAA.

I agree. He wants to pretend is wasn't the Russians but Assad instead.

The thing is Russia is not the Soviet Union to say nothing of Russian empire. During WWI the fighting didn't even get to the Russian proper until very late in the war. Even Nazis, geographically speaking didn't penetrate much into Russia's heartland. But yes, dismantling Russia, nobody would go for that. I don't really want to witness numbnuts like Kadyrov having access to any kind of powerful weaponry not even mentioning the WMD. Still, I have no clue what is the Russian end game in Syria or maybe they accepted a Samurai creed: a samurai has no goal, only path...

Perhaps the Russians are just happy to have a warm water port.
