Other Post So, how was your day?

In my second day of not feeding the outside cats. I have two little Siamese kittens missing now and that happened the first night. I think it is very strange to see that after what that idiot said. I know the little guys very well and they were very people friendly so it would be easy to get them should they stray. I still have the 3rd one from another litter and it does not wander out. The two black and whites that were same litter with the 2 Siamese are still staying close to the entrance and come in and eat and go out for a few minutes. The 3 little black dwarfs are still coming in and spending most of their time indoors. The little cat from across the street I named Rooster was on the hood of my truck a few minutes ago hoping I would put out food but I can't put it out, I have to keep my word with this police chief or it will snow ball into something that gets out of hand. I tried to contact a shelter 15 miles from me to see if they could take the 8 and they took my name and phone number so I am still waiting to hear from them. The news yesterday in Baton Rouge one of the well known cat shelters has shut down due to no money and one lady has one cat of her own and she is sheltering 7 kittens hoping they can get them adopted out. All I know to do is keep feeding these in the hallway and allow them to go in and out. I am really pissed about the two Siamese but having no way to really know if they were taken or just walked off I can't accuse anyone. I wouldn't put it past this nutcase neighbor to do something that hideous since he was a mortician. You have to be a bit sinister to have that job ! Going to the store at 9 before the heat starts getting unbearable and I'll fill the water buckets at the front. I am about fed up with the hypocrites telling me I can't put out water. Obviously these laws against animal cruelty do not apply to the state or local morons. I spoke with my land owner yesterday and she told me she talked to the mayor and nothing is going on. I figure if the chief spoke to this neighbor as rudely as he spoke to me maybe the idiot will keep his mouth shut and not ever speak to me again. Sure wouldn't bother me since I can't stand the creep to begin with.

Some time in the fall when it cools off a bit I plan on doing some repairs inside and my land owner told me they would buy the materials or even have her husband do the work but I can do all that needs to be done. Already tooling up to be able to do what I need to do. Some floor repair in the bathroom and also in the kitchen in front of the counter. Got to put in a replacement section with a sink hole due to the water from the air conditioner being mounted over the counter and sink, it drained down on the back of the counter and inside the wall until the counter bowed up on the end. I need to repair that floor and while I have the section of counter removed I can repair that paneling and build a good air mounting which it has never had. I had accumulated some used two by fours a couple years ago but just put them on the front room floor. Going to do some ceiling painting also which will make the place brighter and smell much better.

I'm an old fart! Can I play, too? It's supposed to hit 40C here today. (104F) I just mowed the front yard while it was a cool 78F.

But it's a dry heat - only 13% humidity.

I informed wifey that is IT for any work from me today!!
Here, the daily highs are around 32°C (90°F), with a dew point of between 20 and 25°C – so that's close to 80% humidity. That's Aruba-like weather. The thing is, I don't live on Aruba. And I don't wanna live on Aruba. I genuinely don't understand people who enjoy this kind of weather. But maybe I'm wired differently anyway. Every woman in my life has been mad at me at least once because I'd feel comfortable when they were freezing.

24 shitty hours from hell. I got voluntold to organise the office move. So I get two external network/IT engineers in to do the server/network side of things while I focus on all the other stuff that needs to go. They're from the same company that installed the servers/network in the first place.

I've worked with some great Indian IT guys - these weren't some of them. Just incredibly lazy and no initiative. Every time they ran into a roadblock that sat down and waited until I popped in and only then would they tell me what the problem was - and it was always something they should have been able to work out themselves, take some initiative and get it done. Less than impressed.

And then a crucial network component died and it took them 4 hours to accept that it was dead and needed replacement. Sheesh. Started day before yesterday at 08:00 and didn't finish until last night at 21:00.

When you get to the range for the first time in months, get setup with your "1 of only 500 made" CZ , but then, right next to you, ANOTHER one of the "only 500 made" CZ. I mean screw that guy... and the RO who was ooing and ahing at mine, then said "oh look another one... like hens teeth those yokes... can't get them "
;-)

Crazy story @TheKiwi and I’ve got to admit that beside my Army time I’ve never worked a civilian day that was more than nine, maybe ten hours. Those IT guys can show dedication and maybe a solid dose of paracetamol after such a day. Truth be told even as a soldier awaken at 5am until 9pm straight nodding off was more than common. Couldn’t do this anymore.

@muck maybe you spoke too soon? We’re back to cool to mild temperatures here for at least a week. No complaints from me ATM.

Not from me, neither. I particularly like the rain. 2023 and (so far) 2024 have been very good in terms of that, unlike the 2018-2022 period, were we had massive forest fires each year.

Did my usual 1st of the month shopping early this morning around 10 am,. got home and pulled up in front of my front porch to unload and bring things in and put in the ice box. My Truck was idling about 20 minutes and I got in and dropped it into gear and it had zero power and the engine died, restarted about 4 times same thing. Finally that weak battery gave up and I hooked up the battery charger and then I came inside and rested for an hour and a half then went back out. I had remembered back in 94 my old Dodge had a vapor lock condition when I was going up that 4000 ft pass going from Vegas to Pahrump. I poured cold water on the gas line and fuel pump and it went up the mountain like it wasn't there. I did the same thing this afternoon when I went out and watered down the fuel line and pump and it fired up and never even bothered to die again. Hard to believe the temperature is so hot this morning so early and the engine itself was not running hot altho it was about 200 and that was coming off the side of the block not the thermostat housing. I really think that thermostat is not opening 100 percent and I will go out one morning and take my cordless drill and put about 6 holes all around the outer end and that should let some water move regardless but still stop it from moving too fast. I usually keep water in bottles for roadside emergencies and will do the same again after this little surprise this morning. Came back inside and had a great long nap.

Decided to spend another night over in Dunoon .. Sun / Mon

Only rained on the monday morning .. Took a trip to Ardentinny on the Sunday ..even at such a remote location there is folks flying the pally flag . I passed a house before lockdown that is still being worked on and the odd abandoned house ...

Never bothered with breakfast .. .but i went for 2 brekkie rolls at a cafe instead . Only downside was the lack of river traffic ...a contrast from last Sun / Mon .

Why did the management spend a ton of money on the regurb only to FORGET Replacing the ageing pipes ..

Water tank burst flooded 2 floors hahahaha serves them right for ignoring the blatent obvious

Went to the mountain pass to get to the pacific coast a few days ago. Noticed the next day that my front left tire has cracks. Had to replace my tires after, they are 5 years old anyway. Ended up with a suspension upgrade and big ole tires and steel rims.

Damn it, but it drives like a totally different Hilux now so thats a plus I guess

Hey Jim. Been busy flying tourist across Southeast Asia lately?

Also had a similar issue lately while driving to the coast and a screw got stuck in my back tires. Replaced them both, then successfully passed the government mandatory car inspection.

Life getting in the way, plus the post pandemic situation on local aviation. The lack of spares for aircraft due to Ukraine and again the covid crap, the revenge travel… ensures that most pilots are flying at maximum flying hours and schedules all over the place.

So most of my free time I just go on a road trip or camping.

The most spoiled Hilux around, 5 years old and the only issues so far is the owner..

Wish I had put 16.00 tires back on my old GMC instead of these radials. They took 3 inches of height out of the Truck, or two or three Jelly Rolls which ever way person looks at it. I just need that extra 3 inches to be able to crawl under the truck if needed.

Happy to tell you all that I’m out of arthroscopy surgery since midday, which according to the doctor/surgeon went quite well.

Already have called a nurse and PT for the post OP needs, and hopefully life will be back on the right path soon enough.

Welcome to the world of knee problems.
Take PT very seriously. Was the surgery done as outpatient?

I now have a titanium knob and two large holes in fibia and temur.
Surgeon said he drilled holes sized for a crucial ligament of a rugby player 😅
Was pretty tedious to get going again but I worked hard and tried always what was possible. I even did a long walk two days after surgery outside the hospital ward on crutches.

But as a general advice only do the full knee replacement if really necessary.

My father in law has had huge problems with artificial knee and hips replaced way to early in his 40s.

My leg three months ago

Get well soon!

Danke, freund and yeah I won’t mess around, for the better I was an outpatient and out of the hospital the day I got in.

I’m taking PT and hygiene seriously so I’ll be in good hands, first and foremost some rest and walking is still possible on shorter distance for now.

Cripple of the world United!
