Other Post So, how was your day?

Anyone else getting woken up in the middle of the night by their own smart TV's Alexa telling them that they don't understand?

:/

My prostate is the only thing waking me up in the middle of the night.

Having to work 6 days again when others get there 2 days off . And it's busy all week with functions

It's becoming a farce ...

Incidentally we've had an Iranian lass in the Kitchen for a wee while now . Tbh She's too slow .

On a Sunday when it's mr n mrs half a job on the Sauce Corner they do bare minimum mep . ..

Wife made for a us a pot of things that were getting to be almost sketchy and use up before going bad, and turned it into a sauce of sorts. Sweet basil and marinara sauce, sautéed zucchinis, chopped and sautéed yellow onions, grounded up some beef chuck and last of the dear meat from several seasons ago, crushed tomatoes, and with some wide egg noodles.

Darn thing was so tasty that I wanted to go back and grab another bowl of just the sauce. But I also remembered that I dropped five pounds from last week and am only 20+ more to go to lose before my doctor tells me to stop so I refrained.

Nah, just self doubt and the sense of failing in your life goals and ambitions and impending sense of personal doom. other than that , sleep like a baby

Wife went ahead and disabled Alexa in the settings. It was either that or she would hurl the nearest object of considerable and damaging weight at the screen with absolute zero F's if she was woken up ever again. Definitely not a morning person by far.

A pretty day but down in the low 30s 2 days in a row. Talked with my old friend out in Nevada and it was 37 when I called him. Otherwise just another normal day. If it is raining or dark out I just take a nap and sleep really well. Go to the PO tomorrow to pick up package from my sister and I will hook onto my garbage can and drag it to the house on the return. Really exciting out there...not.

It's been money for Nothing the last 2 days ... in work

Boring as chuff ultra quiet mind numbing torture

Last night my wife woke me up @ 0 dark thirty to inform me she was ovulating. We're trying for another kid since I'm on home rotation. So didn't get much sleep. Have duty so plan to hit the rack early tonight.

Last night's storm severely disrupted train travel in Germany. I was stuck for four hours on a massively overcrowded train. Whilst suffering from a severe case of the runs, mind you. It's a miracle I didn't soil myself. But I'm bound to have caught the flu, the 'rona and a common cold at once, judging by the sounds and the smell in that traincar. Perfect advertisment for individual travel.

A non chalant way of saying you were "rawdawggin it all night." This month was medical license renewal, freaking Typr recurrency and Proficiency check and a total of 93 hours. One of the Captains mentioned "oh by the way we are flying our competitors flights as their planes are down." Check their online booking and lo and behold we were. No rest for the wicked and thank you mechs and our lord and saviour Airbus.

& since we went there, if there are no communists in the fun house in 14 days we can rawdog for the next 8 1/2 months +/-.

When we get bored we just talk the weather. Currently Scandinavian countries are enduring really rough extreme cold conditions that should make their way to Belgium, Germany and France. Brace yourselves peers.

U.K. as well, could get to zero over the weekend!

We had flooding in town on Christmas morning, 110mm of rain in a short period, the towns storm water system is not great. Tuesday, another storm, another 45-75mm of rain in 90 minutes, depending on what part of town you were in. More flooding.
I was leaving Bendigo, normally about 90 minutes drive from home. It was fine when I went into the cinema, it was persisting down when I came out.
The first 30km out of town was a series of flooded creek crossings, which had all been flooded on the 25th of Dec. Single lane traffic down the middle of the highway on the high part of the road, giving way to oncoming convoys when appropriate, crawling along at 40kmh. After hitting a bit of high ground, 85% of the people on the road were suddenly afraid of doing the speed limit. Then the next storm front hit and we were doing 50kmh. Couldn't go faster as the windscreen wipers couldn't keep up, couldn't pull over as the road side was boggy, couldn't stop because you'd get ploughed up the arse by someone behind.
Again, it cleared up and again, 85% of the North heading crew were incapable of doing the speed limit.
I get home to K-town and all the streets are flooded again, kids kayaking down side roads, people in low houses ripping into rubber neckers making unnecessary bow waves. Fortunately no power loss this time. My place is fine, I'm up on stumps and the block is sufficiently high to avoid ingress from the backing up storm water system.
The local populace are starting to rip into Council about the state of the storm water system. The pitchforks are out. Judging by the collapsed bridge at the entry to one of the local lakes, which hasn't been repaired since it failed in June last year. I doubt there is money in the budget for fixing the 150 year old stormwater system.

The situation looks pretty grim in Lower Saxony and the Anhaltine lands right now. Several dykes have collapsed.

One of these moments where I can't help but demand regulation for a change.

One third of the home owners in the affected regions aren't insured against flooding. There'll have to be a tax payer bailout to prevent thousands of families from ending up on the streets. Why? Don't get me wrong, of course these families should be helped in their time of need, but why can't we make flood insurances mandatory for all home owners in regions prone to flooding?

In other news, I've spent an aweful amount of time procastinating on Youtube, marvelling at the rhetorical abilities of Canadian conservative leader Pierre Poilievre. Hopefully he beats Trudeau in the elections. Poor Canadians. In comparison, Trudeau makes Biden, Scholz and Macron look like demigods and paragons of justice and wisdom.
