Other Post So, how was your day?

Got an appointment with the dentist early this week, will need a dental crown but at least no cavity. Typically cost about 300€ but we’ll see how much I am reimbursed by the insurance. It’s the second time I need one, last time I only paid about 50€ on my own.

The TV remote issue is resolved, those greedy bastards wants me to send back the old one via a local shop, while I paid as I said above for a new one, as if it was my fault for defective material…

Also another benign issue: ordered vape products online and the totally incompetent French postal service “lost” it. Called them, visited the post office and it’s in Alsace? What the heck? They also charge 5€ for shipping…

Nothing of all this is really that dramatic but it’s just issues piling up and annoying me a bit.
Yeah had an experience with the French Postal service in one of my stays theres. Waited in line only for them to check for 5 minutes or less and say "sorry not there." Found out later it was there.

Found out GF was listening and observing and realized from my empty Humidor that I love cigars and have ran out, she then proceeded to search online forums to get opinions and reviews and talk to one of the cigar makers here in making a cigar bundle, it was supposed to be a birthday surprise.... Damn it. I'm gonna end up marrying this one.

Better late than never uncle Jimbo, get married have a wedding. It’s a one in a lifetime adventure. ;)

The thing I like about JJ is that he'll be sharing the whiskey and cigars I bring as wedding gifts.

Serious question, any of you have experience with Solar panels on your homes, were they effective in lower energy costs? How's the maintenance? My house wont be built till 2026, but others are telling me I should get solar.

Each they I stray farther from God's light

They are a good investment but do you due diligence mate. China has cornered 90% of the market but quality varies hugely. They will not be effective in lower energy if you have the attitude of "I've got solar, I can have everything running all day" then you will see your bills remaining the same or becoming larger. Don't forget it will take around 4-5 years of reduced costs before you will recoup those initial costs.

I just upgraded my 2.4 Kw system to a 6kw system and happy I did. Change the way you use electricity regardeless and you will see your bills go down. Turn switches off at the wall and get used to doing it. That includes not leaving your TV etc running on "trickle" power.

Sorry man, at this point I wonder if you have some crush on the dentist. At least you have a quick appointment…

Appointment today with the surgeon post and pre (sort of) surgery.

In short : my surgery last July (arthroscopy/cleaning the knee from those bones fragments gravitating around my knee) wasn’t sufficient and I’m headed to a full knee replacement procedure this winter.

He’s done the best he could last summer but knee arthrisis isn’t going away and I can’t escape it, on the upside I’m 40 yo, and the post surgery and PT should work fine.

Will keep y’all updated on this never ending saga.

We had dinner at older daughter's, and she put on a great feed bag! Some of her inlaws were there, so I bailed early. I'm just not much of a socialite.

But I like turkey so I checked with the local grocery who offer fully cooked dinners for those not wanting a mess. Occasionally, they have dinners left over. Aha! I'm on cordial terms with the head cook who said he had two cooked turks left over @ $25 - for $60, he'd throw in everything else including a pie. I didn't figure we needed all the trimmings, so I just grabbed the bird - about 17 - 20 pounds and ready to devour! Yippie-ki-yay!

Drove around after that checking on black Friday madness... yep - madness in abundance! Walmart parking lot was stuffed as were home improvement stores - as were restaurants - and pretty much every place but the grocery. Worked for me.

I can't imagine butting heads with densely-packed crowds in stores for the honor of saving a few $. I figure there was also a good chance of catching covid from the unwashed, too. And getting dents in your fender from shopping-crazed drivers.

Home again and all is well for which I'm truly thankful! :D
