Other Post So, how was your day?

Ran into a departed friend's widow earlier this evening while running errands for the wife's beef ragu recipe that she's going to slow cook tomorrow for us. It felt great seeing her again and finally in good spirits. So naturally I invited her over for supper tomorrow with the wife's blessing of course.

My friend was a USN Seabee and Desert Storm veteran. He probably would have loved the picture threads in here, especially the models.

Off to Madrid with work on sunday morning.....

Can any of our Spanish posters recommend a decent bar with craft ale and where I can get non tourist food? Central MAdrid is where I will be....

^----Ahhh---- I would be curious to know if you see people drinking vermouth as aperitif!

I'll have a look......sadly cus it's a work trip I can't cut loose too much....arriving nice and early on sunday before all day meetings monday then more meetings tuesday before flying home. Gonna try and squeeze as much into 2 nights as possible and still function...

Speaking of, we don’t have that many Spanish users, of whom many have been quiet as of late.

Sorry, I can’t pinpoint any craft places or breweries and I see your stay there will be a short one.

Just wander around and if luck is on your side you’ll find the time and road for a cold one or three.

First morning since that knee injury going to the gym. Starting over of sort. I’ve been doing physical therapy all along. What a mess and long process but on the right track…

So to circle back to this, I had a pre dinner vermouth on expenses myself. Not at all unpleasant.

Rest of the trip was busy but managed to visit a fair few beer bars and stroll through the city around work.

Mean while on YT ..

I've no idea why lol Considering i've been at work all day .

But, any Christmas music yet? 🤔

Did any of that big storm make it over to you on the West side? Hopefully, the roads were not an issue!

Did my Doctor's appointment at the local VA hospital today. She was so impressed with the latest lab results that she's changing the appointments from quarterly to biannual.

Recently both the wife and I changed our diets and lifestyle. We do workouts together and watch our portions, plus we've increased fiber with lost of vitamin content over carbs. Amazing just how much faster the weight drops when one reduces carb content.

Down to a 32 waste again is phenomenal with me, but I still wear my 36's and 34's because of the extra girth my G43X EDC adds.

Currently watching a Royal Armories old video on the Agincourt dioramas. Pretty neat seeing those passionate about their miniature hobbies.

Haven't been about the shops ..tho seen plenty of decor . Not much of that storm tho it snowed on Sat night and rained today by the time my days off come snow i guess will be melted

Three weeks to Xmas, @digrar must be prepping some really good “loot” thread, it’ll be the usual for me. Beginning to buy gifts for the family, having a dinner before Christmas for merely practical reasons. Family is either far away or sadly far and few now.

No big plan yet for New year eve, and my recap for 2023 was great until about June and downhill since, getting better as of the past weeks.

Wife was learning how to use our new heart monitor and used me to practice with. First run was 128. Did it again and same as before, 128.

Asking if her mom could spend the holidays with us, then checks again, still a 128. My mother calls me and she checks while on the phone, a solid 137 lol. Waits a bit and then it's back to a 128.

I started playing with our dogs, and she does it for one last time, a 127.

This is all amusing to me.

Went through a ton of blood work and stress tests as an annual thing, so far the heart is healthy and I have my blood work come out good. Cholesterol isnt too high and urica dn sugar levels are all within parameters. I'm obsessed with blood tests and do it every six months as it helps me monitor and control what I eat.

Bloodwork is more important than many think. Everything from sugar levels, vitamin counts, fats in blood, to even T levels are being checked.

Good on you Jim for being on top of things.

This past day, went out with a few friends to go shooting with. Was definitely fun. I had shot so much 9x19 of late that I had totally neglected and had forgotten just how much I loved shooting my 45's too. Need to bring them out more often.

Anyway, it was pointed out that I may be a bit over trained as I was doing drills utilizing both tactical and speed reloads at a fast rate, and that I'm reverting to my secondary and perfectly balanced while on the move doing so instead of changing mags in the middle of an exchange. They thought that I was showing off. I wasn't, just maintaining what I've been taught.

Honestly I'd rather be over trained than undertrained to be blunt. I'd rather have wasted all of this time and money and hopefully never ever having to use it for self defense for real than to ever need to do the needful and be DRT because I chose to be stupid and ignorantly complacent.

hahaha im obsessed with checking my body up, weird for a pudgy kid but, been thinking of an angiogram lately. Just to check everything. Hell stem cells are fascinating for me. Funny for a guy that wakes up with "F*** Im not dead yet"
