Firearms Showcase Your Firearms

Been trying something new to me. AIWB with a weapon mounted light. I may try another type of it from another company once it's available finally for sale.

Trying something different here with the X95 Tavor.

What is the optic riser on the X95? Is it see through?

Looking for a riser to put on a Ruger PC Carbine that will let me peep under the optic and see the original iron sights. The original irons are very very low to the bore axis.

There will be no cowitness between optic and irons. Which is absolutely fine. Would like to be able to peep under the optic and see the irons, just in case for that %0.01 case. Probably need about a half inch of see through window in the riser and a micro mounting. (PA Cyclops 1X Compact.

I can't remember the last time I wasn't using an optic. Not even sure if I'd cope with irons anymore....

Nope, it's the ANR UKON, R4T variant.

Irons are for loss of primary and for the off chance your optic if not etched, getting washed out from incoming light from a near peer or an actual peer.

If your primary gets obstructed and you have a rare case of whatever it's called to prevent occluded aiming, irons solves that problem.

If your optic goes down at the worst moment, going to irons keeps you in the game.

I knew two people from two very different, but armed professions that had to go to irons.

One was a full bird in the USMC at the time when he was advising the IA, had an IED obscure his Comp M4 CQO, and could not occlude. So he took it off and fell to wherever, and deployed irons and was able to kill his attackers.

The other was a cop on a felony warrant task force. While waiting to breach in his stack, he noticed his Eotech died. So he deployed front and rear BUIS and stayed in it and left no one short handed.

Finally had some time to download the pics I took of the P365 I bought from my son. The holster brand I prefer is Hidden Hybrid, I think this my fourth one. I had this one built for an optic that I will be picking up a slide and optic late next week.

Yeah, I just want the irons for backup. And since they are already built in, might as well.

The irons are very low mounted. Actually have to go head down and angle over to use them anywhere but prone. My optic needs to come up a half inch to be in a comfortable position. Maybe a touch more up.

I am not serving warrants or kicking doors, hence the PC Carbine and an etched/lighted prism optic in the first place. But I want this carbine to be simple and easily usable.

I was explaining irons to The Kiwi. However if you feel slighted here for whatever reason, well my apologies I guess. Wasn't my intentions at all.

Your rifle, your rules, do what you want. However with my guns, my rules, I do what I want in return. part of my rules for ME is having a bombproof instrument that can never fail once. I find this too, to be easy and simple because every contingency that based on real world experiences, is now covered.

I am not serving warrants or kicking in doors either, by the way. In fact, even though I am now retired I still come from an armed professional background. So for me to ignore the potentials for failures induced or not is quite ignorant of me to do based on so much knowledge gained by myself and my peers as well as the armed professional community. And this is a self defense tool, there are no respawns to take things lightly in regards to me and my loved ones and neighbors.

YMMV.

Oh man. I didn't feel slighted even in the least. Not how I took it at all.

Yeah, everybody sets up the way they set up.

I am actually looking at the irons like a built in BUIS. Maybe not the best irons really, I have seen better dedicated actual BUIS.

But I think I can retain the use of the irons by just popping the optic up to where I want it, but with a see through riser.

Totally didn't take what you said as any sort of criticism. Just typing and exchanging info. Basically you could say pretty much whatever and I won't be offended.

Southpaw or left eye dominant? What magnifier are you running?

Earlier this month I got the new slide & optic for the P365.

I did have to modify the kydex a bit to clear the side mounted battery cover of the Romeo-X Compact.

I have no pictures because I just ordered it from PSA, but I have an AK-V inbound. ODG Magpul furniture. Unknown if I will keep the factory brace or not or even the Magpul handguard if I disagree with it. I happen to have a spare Midwest Industries Alpha folding fixed beam on hand and ordered a Gearhead Tailhook Mod 1C for it instead of the stock on the MI Alpha.

Currently looking at either the SLR Ion or the JMAC Custom one that PSA uses as the OEM for theirs.

Photo when it arrives?

So I went ahead and did purchase a few more things for it. Three cases of Magtech 9mm steel cased (3,000 rounds), Two cases rounds of Hornady 124 XTP standard pressure 9 (400 rounds total), ADM ACRO low mount w/titanium lever, Aimpoint ACRO P2, Lead Faucet Tactical Brokos Hand Brake, and BFG Vicker's AK 2 point sling in forest green.

Bear in mind this isn't the final form yet. Still waiting for a few more things to arrive such as another mount and the handguard, and 3D printing group I belong to has come up with a plan to make and print a mag funnel for the magwell. This one is needing to be dehorned as the edges are dangerously sharp. I'll dehorn the triggervguard myself.

Nice, what is it chambered for?

I see a lot of people on twitter praise PSA stuff.
