Republic of Korea Navy carried out 2024's first naval gunfire exercise across all three seas on 03 January 2024.
In the Yellow Sea, Daegu-class frigate ROKS Cheonan (FFG-826) led the formation after entering the fleet last month. ROKS Cheonan (FFG-826) is named after the Pohang-class corvette ROKS Cheonan (PCC-772), which was sunk by a North Korean midget submarine in 2010. The new Cheonan was launched in November 2021, commissioned in May 2023.
