Politics Police news / incidents etc

Trying to start a civil war. But of course that's not insurrection.
Intelligence agencies spying on all citizens for the benefit of the elites. But of course that's not an oligarchy.
Local cops running PSYOPS and Information Operations against their own population. But of course that's not a sign of a police state.
Police shooting unarmed citizens without repercussions, but letting armed rioters walk free because they belong to your own party and you're using them to get your man (re-)elected. But of course that's not mob rule.
Controlling the media and using them to tell the population what they are and aren't allowed to think. But of course that's not a dictatorship.

It's only worth outrage when the FSB or KGB do it...

Imo anyone involved in these actions, whether conducting them or facilitating them should be hung for treason.

This is currently happening in the next town over to me, and just around the corner from my best mate's house.

A stand-off between armed police and a man "barricaded" in at a flat with his young son has entered a third day.
The 41-year-old is thought to have weapons inside the Coventry property, say police.
He has refused to exit the home since Sunday, raising officers' concerns for his and his eight-year-old's safety.
The West Midlands force was initially called to the scene at the weekend to carry out a welfare check.

Going on three days already ... I wonder how much effect negotiations will have if they haven't led to a breakthrough so far.

For general information for those who don't live in the USA, I-40 is one of the major east-west roads in the nation. Shutting I-40 or one of its bypasses down, in this case I-440, is a huge disruption, especially around a major city like Raleigh.

The cyclist appeared to have been there at the wrong place and the wrong time and wasn’t a target.

We’ve been hearing of this story for years here and it remains an utter mystery.

There HAS to be more to it that the public doesn’t know.

Even odder was the choice of weapon - Luger P06 - would not have been my first or even tenth choice

PPK yes

I do still have a feeling brother was involved - It's going to be interesting

Strange that they haven't disabled his comms ...
I honestly don't know what they can do, other than going to snapchat and asking them to disable his account and even then, he can presumably just start another one.

It's still ongoing though.

Shoot and move on - should have been dealt with 3 days ago - what a waste of time - effort and money

Service providers can block individual numbers and phones from accessing specific access points. Just block him on the ones in the area and he's completely cut off. With wired networks it's even easier. Whether that is wise from a psychological and intelligence POV is a different matter.

I would want as many ways as possible to see what he's doing, but not if that means he can also see what we're doing.

This seems odd to me too. What is so specific about this case that either negotiations, starving into submission (cutting power, water, gas etc) or a tactical entry are not being implemented up till now?

A case a year or two ago in the Netherlands involving an armed hostage taker saw a perimeter set up, power cut and SRT going in with IR and NODs (basement during daytime). If the psychologists haven't been able to get him to see sense in 72hrs what chance is there that they will in the next 72?

Details are scant but it started off as a welfare check - I'm guessing here, but if the whole thing started out of concern for wellness/safety of the child, then I guess there's still concern he could harm the child if they try anything.

Being besieged for all that time can't be much more beneficial for anyone's safety. Plenty of time for him to think through the possible outcomes, all negative from his POV, and act even more unpredictable out of desperation as a result.
