The boat was taken out of service at Lorient on 17 June 1944, she was scuttled there on 19 August. She was raised by the French in 1945 after Germany's surrender, and became the French submarine Blaison (Q165). She was decommissioned on 18 August 1959.

The heavy cruisers USS Baltimore (CA-68) and USS Des Moines (CA-133)(Background) tied up at the pier during a goodwill visit to Lisbon, Portugal in October of 1952. 🇵🇹

The cruisers were operating together as a part of the United States Sixth Fleet and USS Des Moines was serving as flagship. Being responsible for the Mediterranean and Eastern Atlantic, ships of the Sixth Fleet were frequent visitors to various European Cities.
