Imperial Japan:
The destroyer Hatsushimo was a Hatsuharu-class destroyer originally laid down in 1933, that saw extensive service through the entirely of the Pacific War.
Hatsushimo is photographed here in 1947 in the spot that she was forcibly beached on 30 July 1945. In the incident in question she came under attack by carrier aircraft from Task Force 38 while en route to Maizuru naval base, and struck an air-dropped naval mine while performing evasive manoeuvers. She had to be run aground in Miyazu Bay to prevent the ship from sinking, 17 crew members were killed in the attack. Hatsushimo was the 129th and final Japanese destroyer lost in the war.

GROTON, Conn. ATLANTIC OCEAN (Nov. 15, 2020) The Cyclone-class coastal patrol ship USS Zephyr (PC 8), U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Charles Sexton (WPC 1108)and Brazilian training ship BNS Brasil (U 27) held a memorial wreath-laying ceremony at sea to honor the 40 U.S. Navy Sailors and two Brazilian Sailors who lost their lives in the sinking of the World War II submarine, USS R-12 (SS 89) off the coast of Key West, Nov. 15. U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet supports U.S. Southern Command�s joint and combined military operations by employing maritime forces in cooperative maritime security operations to maintain access, enhance interoperability, and build enduring partnerships in order to enhance regional security and promote peace, stability and prosperity in the region that includes the Caribbean, Central America and South America. INDIAN OCEAN (Nov. 23, 2020) The Royal Australian Navy Anzac-class frigate HMAS Ballarat (FFH 155) steams alongside the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) as an F/A-18F Super Hornet assigned to the "Mighty Shrikes" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 94 launches from Nimitz.
