On royal instructions, Abdel Latif Lodi, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of the Department of National Defense, received today, Thursday, at the headquarters of this administration in Rabat, Florence Parly, Minister of Armies of the French Republic, who is on a working visit to the Kingdom.
A communiqué stated to the National Defense Department that at the beginning of this meeting, which was attended by His Excellency the Ambassador of France in Rabat and officials of the General Command of the Royal Armed Forces, the two ministers expressed their satisfaction with the solid, excellent and lasting nature of the distinctive ties and strategic partnership between the French Republic and the Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty the King Mohamed VI and His Excellency the President of the Republic.
The same source added that the two sides also confirmed their ambition to continue developing these ancient relations within the framework of the same spirit of friendship, mutual understanding and mutual trust, noting that they exchanged during their discussions, views on the regional security situation, especially on the Mediterranean space and the coast of the Sahel and Sahara region.
In this context, Ludi highlighted the permanent commitment and multi-dimensional strategy adopted by the Kingdom, led by His Majesty the King, may God assist him, in the field of combating terrorism and the humanitarian management of the migration crisis.
On the one hand, Parley praised His Majesty’s leadership and the key role the Kingdom plays in regional stability, noting that it also praised the Kingdom’s efforts as a dynamic actor in the framework of South-South cooperation, especially towards African countries.
On the defense field, the two officials reviewed various areas of bilateral cooperation. This includes regular, structured and diversified cooperation, in particular, the formation of frameworks, the exchange of experience and the organization of joint exercises. This cooperation is also marked by the regular convening of the Joint Military Commission and the regular exchanges of visits by high-ranking officials.
The report concluded that after the two officials welcomed the quality and dynamism of bilateral cooperation as a "defense", they reaffirmed their common will to continue to strengthen and deepen this cooperation, especially in the field of modernizing weapons systems, enhancing capabilities and joint work.
