I will ask, we had not fielded the AUG yet when I was on active duty. We carried the FAL the other way around and for drill never on the sling. When we were at ease we held it in front of our breast, the FAL resting in the arms with one hand gripping the other.Interesting to see a rifle carried left handed as a standard position for drill or ceremonial use. Does anyone know if this has some historical significance, a carry over from a previous weapon or something simple like having cocking handle outer most to mitigate snag or stop getting jabbed by it?
