Indian Navy’s INS Chennai, deployed in Mediterranean Sea, undertook a Passage Exercise with Italian Navy Ship San Marco on 25 July with the aim to foster mutual trust towards the common goal of secure seas.
Enhancing interoperability between the Indian Navy & Italian Navy, INS Visakhapatnam, with Flag Officer Commanding IN Western Fleet embarked, undertook Maritime Partnership Exercise with ITS Luigi Durand De La Penne in the Gulf of Oman 06 August 2023.
Italian Navy Ship ITS Francesco Morosini, was on a goodwill visit to Mumbai, India from 10 - 14 Aug. During her stay in harbour, cross deck visits by Italian and Indian Navy personnel was undertaken for sharing of best practices.
On leaving harbour the ship undertook Maritime Partnership Exercise with INS Trishul. The inter-operability between the two navies was on display during the conduct of exercises like cross deck VERTREP, helicopter control, replenishment approaches and high-speed manoeuvres.
Italian naval architects just build nice ships as seen with the Paolo Thaon di Revel-class.
I was always hoping the Bundesmarine would join the new Italian amphibious carrier project. And perhaps get 2 or 3 but this will never happen. They have the perfect size imho.
