I always liked the Schnellboote very powerful (for their size) and very fast units 50kn.

They had a wooden hull attached to aluminium ribs.

Their main task was to guard the Baltic sea accesses.

Yesterday nine years ago in Baghlan an Afghan army soldier opened fire on German soldiers working on a Marder IFV. He killed one instantly and wounded 8 more, two of them later succumbed to their injuries.

On the same day another Marder was hit by a RPG and caught fire wounding 4 soldiers.

I was reminded by a veteran friend of mine.
