Surviving the Elite Arctic Special Forces Training (hardest thing we’ve ever done)

Thank you to the Finnish Arctic Forces for bringing us into their world and trusting us in being essentially the first outsiders to ever capture a part of their training. It was truly brutal for us never having done anything like this before in our lives. But we are grateful for the experience, everything we learned and the great Arttu and Mikhail who took great care of us.

It says special forces but they are doing mainly basic arctic survival things.

North holds.

🇺🇸 Only by training together, we can demonstrate our capability to protect the High North. The Lapland Stone 25, Arctic Forge 25 and Joint Viking 25 exercises are now complete, and we can proudly declare: #PohjoinenPitää – The North Holds.

The Finnish Army conducted joint exercises with Allies not only in Northern Finland but also in Northern Sweden and Northern Norway as part of the Lapland Stone 25, Arctic Forge 25, and Joint Viking 25 exercises. The Allied forces were rapidly deployed to High North, where we carried out three completely different exercises together with Nordic, U.S. and Canadian forces. The exercises focused on enhancing capabilities in areas such as receiving and providing international support, joint fires, and command.

Russian media of course thought they had their gotcha moment and claimed that this is the new border fence that cost millions, talking about corruption etc. (it's the old cattle/wildlife fence)...

For reference if someone ever wonders why the new Pohjanmaa class was not a bunch of missile boats and 1-2 mine layers, like in the old times. (They are unable to go far from the coast to protect shipping lanes)

No stabilisers on a vessel in 2025?

No stabilisers on a vessel in 2025?

These ships have draught of 1.7m. And are made of aluminum / carbon fiber. So they sit quite high. These are 90s tech, don't know what kind stabilizers they have.

Edit: my knowledge on this subject is limited to glass fiber rowing boats that I use when going fishing.

Ok that answers it mate. High freeboard, low draught...wouldn't want to be on them

I have been reading about this on Finnish forum.

Consensus seems to be that the whole Hamina project was combination of "get what you can afford" and "aluminum ship needs to be ordered from the dock, so it doesn't go bankrupt."

"What happens when amateurs get involved and then Navy has to struggle with it for 30 years."

"Ship designed for lake conditions on open sea"

"Throw up simulator" etc.

It does look cool on calm seas going fast.

Idea of this ship was that it can go pretty much anywhere, outside the shipping lanes. People were thinking about preventing landings.
