The combat phase of the Vigilant Fox exercise has continued today in Niinisalo. The offensive force opened the fire for the first time in the early morning. The main focus of the attack of the Pori Brigade’s Readiness Unit and the US troops was mechanized maneuverability and rapid dismounting. The opposing force (OPFOR) of Readiness Units from Guard Jaeger Regiment and Karelia Brigade alongside UK troops disrupted the attack by using smoke grenades and terrain in the defense.
All forces have traded their tactics and procedures, building interoperability between troops. Although the forces are compatible with each other, successful interaction is highlighted when combining the operational methods of the tactical level of different countries and units. The importance of interaction is emphasized all the way from individuals to formations of different sizes, and finally to joint staff operations. During this exercise, working together has become a natural feature at all levels.
