Ajax is a good looking vehicle.
Yup, but they seem to have spent a lot of money taking the ASCOD 2 platform and making it complicated for niche roles while they keep on band aiding Warriors.

It's an evolution of the Austrian Ulan, right? Kinda cool to see that design's resurgence. The Brits missed the opportunity of naming it 'Lancer' though, as that's what Ulan means.

I totally dig that tail art. The RAF centenary design was very cool as well.

As part of the Ajax rigorous trials and testing process, General Dynamics Land Systems–UK conducted Littoral Fording Trials at Instow, North Devon. The trial showcased the capability of the vehicle in performing prepared and unprepared fording operations.

Bandaiding Warriors? The Bulldogs still on strength are a good 20-30 years older than the oldest Warrior.

True, just different sized band aids I guess. At least the Bulldog should be captured some what with the ARES APC version of the AJAX although I have seen anything about any Mortar track variants yet. Maybe some roles will be captured by Boxer variants.

HMS Northumberland sailed up the River Tyne for a routine port visit to Newcastle.Alongside at Northumbrian Quay on the River Tyne, a stone’s throw away from the bright lights of Newcastle, the general public will also get a unique opportunity to tour the ship and talk with the sailors about their lives on board.

Royal Navy shadows Russian Task Group through channel.

The Royal Navy today completed a concerted five-day operation to shadow a Russian task group as it passed the UK.Three Navy ships and two helicopters were involved in keeping a close watch four Russian vessels as they made their way up the Channel and into the North Sea.Plymouth-based frigate HMS Sutherland led the Royal Navy effort to monitor the force – RFS Marshall Ustinov, a Slava-class cruiser, RFS Admiral Kulakov a Udaloy-class destroyer and their support vessels Sliva, an ocean-going tug and tanker Vyazma – as the group sailed up from the Bay of Biscay having completed a deployment to the eastern Mediterranean. As well as Sutherland and her Merlin helicopter from 814 Naval Air Squadron at Culdrose in Cornwall, patrol vessel HMS Mersey, tanker RFA Tideforce, and a Wildcat helicopter from 815 Naval Air Squadron at Yeovilton ensured the Russian force was continuously observed as it sailed through UK waters.

So long as no trawlers from Hull (a.k.a. Japanese torpedo boats) come near I'm sure all will be fine...

HMS Queen Elizabeth is back in Portsmouth after completing more air trials. Merlin and F35b pilots completed night qualifications.
She came back a bit early to beat Storm Dennis arrival.
HMS Prince of Wales will leave for Liverpool soon.

Question..when will we see HMS Queen Elizabeth with a full complement of aircraft? Thanks!

Captain Jerry Kyd, (then) commander of HMS Queen Elizabeth,(now Rear Admiral) commented on the initial deployment and the gradual increase in air wing numbers:

“We are constrained by the F-35 buy rate even though that was accelerated in SDSR in 2015, so initial operating capability numbers in 2020 are going to be very modest indeed. We will flesh it out with helicopters, and a lot depends on how many USMC F-35s come on our first deployment in 2021. But by 2023, we are committed to 24 UK jets onboard, and after that it’s too far away to say.”

The build up is painfully slow. We are only getting 3 more in 2020. 2021 IIRC it is deploying with 12 UK jets and a USMC Sqn.

In all honesty I don't think we will ever see them full to capacity.
