I have always loved the lines and general look of the Mcdonnell Douglas F4 Phantom, was a sad day when the RAF got rid of it in the 90's, that said the Eurofighter Typhoon is a cool bird too :)

Pictured is a soldier from The Household Division firing a Sharpshooter Rifle during a live fire exercise. The soldiers were training thousands of miles from home on the infamous Onion Ranges in the Falklands.

The Onion Range is a vast swathe of land which is used for training by the Army and located on a remote part of East Falkland island.

Onion Range is regarded as one of the best live firing ranges used by the British Army. It is large enough to allow a platoon of soldiers (around 30 men) to conduct mock attacks using automatic fire, grenades and anti-tank missiles.
One of the toughest field exercises is the live firing that takes place at the top of Onion Range; named because the journey up there alone is enough to make your eyes water.

The soldiers set up camp on the exposed hillside, often for several weeks at a time, and the training takes place in a simulated live fire battlefield environment.

Pictured is a 2 YORKS Foxhound, Light Protection Patrol Vehicle. Seen here with the snow-capped Kabul mountains in the background.

2 YORKS used Foxhounds to conduct Advisor Force Protection (AFP) patrol in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The patrol task is shared with soldiers from the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Finland and Denmark.

Burma, Corunna and elements of Helmand companies are joined by three other companies the US Army’s 3rd Bn/73rd Cavalry Regiment (82nd Airborne Division), two Australian platoons from 3rd Bn Royal Australian Regiment, a Danish ‘Viking’ platoon, a Finnish half-platoon and some New Zealanders.

The Kabul Security Force is the only British One Star command in Afghanistan and the Kabul Protection Unit is its only manoeuvre unit.
Service is orientated solely around the capital and is designed to support the essential training and advice, assist effort and to deliver incident response. Therefore, 2 YORKS are the custodians of the mission to help stabilise, grow and support Afghanistan.

Pictured is an RAF Tornado GR4 taking on fuel from a Voyager aircraft at a rate of 500kg/min.

The Tornado GR4 is a two-seat, all-weather, day/night attack and reconnaissance aircraft. It has been in service with the RAF for more than 30 years, but a combination of major upgrade programmes and numerous continual enhancements has kept the aircraft amongst the forefront of all attack aircraft.

Still one of the very few aircraft in the world that is able to operate at low level, day or night and in poor weather, the Tornado is now equipped with a modern precision-guided weapons suite and world-class reconnaissance sensors such as the Reconnaissance Airborne Pod for Tornado (RAPTOR). The aircraft also carries the Litening III Advanced Targeting Pod, which is used in both attack and reconnaissance roles.

The RAF has had Tornados deployed to the Middle East region for more than 20 years – further proof of the versatility and capability of this exceptional aircraft.

The aircraft are operating as part of 903 Expeditionary Air Wing.

Image of aircraft engineers and aircrew making final checks of a Voyager refuelling aircraft before an early morning sortie (a C-17 can be seen in the background).

The Voyager provides the RAF with Strategic Air Transport and Aeromedical capability.

In addition, Voyager is an extremely effective Air-to-Air Refuelling asset, which is utilised to enable a variety of RAF aircraft to operate for extended periods. Voyager currently operates as part of Operation Shader, where it is plays a crucial role, enabling many Coalition Air Force aircraft to extend their sorties when Countering-Daesh.

These Air assets are part of 906 Expeditionary Air Wing (906 EAW) which provides the UK’s air mobility hub in the Middle East and is a critical link in the UK’s strategic air-bridge to and from the region. The Wing enables operations by C-17A Globe master III, C-130J Hercules and Voyager aircraft. The Wing also provides base support for Tornado GR4 and Typhoon FGR4 aircraft during exercises with the UK’s partner countries in the Middle East.

An air defence exercise has seen Royal Air Force and Armée de l'air work closely together to ensure we are always ready to protect our skies.

Exercise Sheihan River is designed to test the resilience of UK and French air defence. In the counter-terrorist scenario a renegade aircraft was intercepted in French controlled airspace by Mirage 2000C fighter jets. As the aircraft converged on UK controlled airspace the bi-lateral agreement with France was invoked. Close cooperation between the Control Reporting Centres of both nations then ensured a seamless transition between the AdlA and the RAF whose Typhoon fighters then continued the escort of the renegade aircraft.

Whilst the exercise is routine, this was the first occasion an intercepting French aircraft refuelled from a RAF Voyager air-air refuelling tanker.

@Conhoon , I thought that trainings with bayonets were finished in US Army near ten years ago. Are there common training program for all soldiers, or different for every squad?

Vanguard-class submarine HMS Victorious.

The Royal Navy has operated the UK’s Continuous at Sea Deterrent since 1967 when the first SSBN – or Ship Submersible Ballistic Nuclear – HMS Resolution began patrolling armed with the Polaris missile system.

In 1996 HMS Vanguard, the first submarine armed with the Trident missile system, arrived on the Clyde and took over deterrent patrol duties from the Resolution Class.
The four Vanguard-class submarines form the UK's strategic nuclear deterrent force.

Each of the four boats are armed with Trident 2 D5 nuclear missiles. Like all submarines the Vanguard Class are steam powered, their reactors converting water into steam to drive the engines and generate electricity.
Fitted with world beating sonar, essentially their ears, the system is so sensitive they can hear vessels over 50 miles away.

I am sorry that I am only answering now, but I rarely sit home at weekends. Mil-smile01
What you can see in the pictures is a simple exchange of experiences that is carried out in international units. The British have one of the few regular armies in which the bayonet charge is still used on the battlefield (the last case I remember the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regiment in Iraq in 2004) and they organized this "training". Similarly, Romanians organized demonstrations of their anti-aircraft equipment within the same unit, Poles organize shooting competitions, etc ...

As a curiosity, let me give you the fact that when creating assumptions for a new Polish rifle, British experience convinced the army to develop a bayonet for it (earlier, the resignation of bayonets was considered).
