Avro Vulcan a RAF jet-powered tailless delta wing high-altitude strategic bomber, although in the mid-1960s a change to low-level tactics was made. In the mid-1970s nine Vulcans were adapted for maritime radar reconnaissance operations, redesignated as B.2 (MRR). In the final years of service six Vulcans were converted to the K.2 tanker configuration for aerial refuelling.
First flight of the Vulcan was August 30th, 1952. Introduction to service was September 1956, 136 total Vulcans were built and she served with the RAF until March of 1984. One notable exception was XH558 featured in many of these pictures, she was kept airworthy until October of 2015 for display flights, air shows and the like and is still to this day maintained in taxiable condition.
